It's possible...

Though if it does happen, it very very likely won't be until the second half of the year, as (I believe...) all of the first-half items have already been revealed.

Hi MG2,

We've got a design "in the works". I'm carving on the handle now. As mentioned, probably not in '08, maybe '09.

5" flat round VG-10 blade, micarta scales. More like the "Street Beat" in quality.

Sal, is this the 'figher'-version of the Temperance that was discussed before? It sounds nice, finally a new version to add to my 4 'old' temperances. They do give the Yin & Yang a run for their money in the Kitchen though. Will this larger Temperance maintain the divots and thumb-capping area in the old handle?

Hope it would be a full flat tang knife. Might be, of course, a tang with holes in order to reduce a weight.

I am really convinced that the old Temperance with 1/3 tang was a misconception. A mule team speaks for itself. Sorry.

But a new one sounds terrific. Although a 3V blade would make it exclusive among production knives. Sal?

the only improvement the Temperance needed IMHO was some more texturing on the FRN handle (volcanogrip?) but like Wouter mentioned, the divots and "thumb groove" on the buttend of the handle (for reverse grip) are "pros" that will hopefully be retained for the newer version of the Temperance

Full tang, skeletonized. Haven't decided about the divots yet. Micarta scales.

Would like to retain the thumb groove, albeit narrower. I'd like to make it thin enough to easily wear under a jacket.

divotless sounds good too Sal....with the original Temperance, the 4 handle divots seem important to enhance purchase b/c of the somewhat smooth FRN handles.... Personally, I'd prefer the finish of the micarta handle to be closer to that found on the Hossom fixed blade series than that of the Street Beat (the enlarged index finger choil/spine jimping more than compensate for the slightly slick micarta handle) :)

Glad to hear you will be using Micarta. Something about the plastic handle just never felt right in my hand.

The "improvements" that I received as comments from users.

Larger blade
thinner handle
no FRN
Full tang

Just what I'd like.

Sounds like a winner! Just as well not imminent, given my budget, but this will be a must have.

I'd like to see the thinner handle as well, but I kinda liked the divots. So long as the new version is still weightless like the original. Full tang knives have a tendency to be too heavy for their size.

Well if the micarta was multi-layered colors, the divots could look visually appealing as well.

Although it is perhaps too late, but I would like to have a handle of the Manix, with pronounced semi-guard similar to Jerry Hossom designs. Would be even more secure in hand, especially if you push or stab.

I revive this thread because I've recently been spending time with one of my Temperances. What a great design! It's remarkable that it can be held comfortably in so many different grips. I would love to see a new version with the improvements mentioned by Mr. Glesser. I like the fingertip divots, but I think they should be slightly more oblong.

The most important improvement to me would be the thinning of the handle, to aid in concealment.

Thanks to Mr. G. for his devotion to this design, and commitment to quality. I'd also like a retelling of the origin of the design--something about cougars, I believe?

Will it come with serrations? One really doesn't have much in the way of options when looking for a serrated fixed blade. I suppose I'll have to get a Street Beat now so I can spend some quality time with it before the Temperance 2 replaces it.
Ask me where I got my awesome SUPERHAWK!

More like Mid-Cal now
