Are there knives you ignore?
Most of us have our favorites in the Spyderco line, but there are so many knives to choose from  ...that I find that I gravitate to certain knives, trying to learn all I can about them, collecting them, using them...but then there are so many more knives that I just blow off, not because I don't like them, but due to a lack of time I can only familiarize myself with just so many knives...and real faves like the Caly, Manix, Scorpius, Stretch, Volpe...just to name a few off the top of my head...get completely ignored by me...does anyone else find themselves doing this? What are the knives that you'd like to get to know in the future, that you haven't considered before?

Knives that I ignore:
-Vagabond
-Poliwog
-The Hossom fixed blades (too expensive for my tastes)
-Dyad
-Manix
-Ocelot
-Pride
-Volpe
-T-Mag
-P'Kal
-"S"
Why are they ignored by me? I am just truly not interested in any of them so I dedicate any buying/collecting to other Spydies. :) Call me crazy.

These below just never caught up with me.
After comparing the best small knives by Spyderco and all big knives by Spyderco I feel that the below really do not stack well to what I consider to be the best that Spyderco offers that suits me.
hope that makes sense.

Yes, I confess it. Rather than give a list, I'll give attributes.
- I tend to ignore knives under 4" and over 5" closed (with a few exceptions here and there). I guess I am a size bigot.
- I emphatically ignore saber-ground knives.
- I ignore combination and serrated blades.
- I ignore knives with thick handles or big handles and small blades. If I'm going to go to the effort of carrying it, I want maximum blade for bulge in my pocket (exception made for the mighty Yo).
I'm not saying any of this makes sense, it just is what it is. I would actually like to get into the sub 4" knives but have not had the interest in them yet. I need a shot of Deaconism to get interested in them.
Starling, I gotta say, you are ignoring some of the very finest. My hat's off to you for being able to do it.

in general, I've started to avoid knives with handles that have multiple (3 or more) finger grooves or choils....lately, i've been leaning more towards "simpler" handle designs like the handle on the Moran FB01 and zdp Jess Horn....
I also tend to avoid chisel ground blades and the larger sized fixed blade choppers as I have no real need for one (and I already got a Scrapyard Dogfather which more than satisfied my curiosity :p ).

I, also, tend to put a mental filter on knives that weeds out a few before I even give them half a chance.
-I have small-ish hands, and as such, a 3.5 inch blade is about my limit (which cuts out a fair number of Spyderco's, to be sure  ).
-I also tend to avoid saber grinds (full flat grinds have spoiled me so much! :p )
I hadn't even considered the Manix until about a week ago, when I made a complete impulse buy once I decided that I simply had to have one! :D (My rationale was that they're discontinued, so I'd better get one "Just in case". :p )
However, there are a few knives that I just seem to flat out ignore, even though they meet my "specifications":
-Centofante 3 and 4
-Adventura
-Para-Military
-Scorpious
Of course, up until about 2 weeks ago, I hadn't been all that desirous of the Spin, either...

For use, I generallyl avoid anything other than front locks with 3mm thick, or thinner, plain edged straight or convex curved blades and a usable finger choil. Only technical exception to that is a serrated Atlantic I keep in my car for emergencies. Have tried, far less successfully, to limit those I collect to PE front locks. But the only Spyderco models so far that I'd rate as total turn-offs are the Kumo, Captain, and P'kal.

I only buy users, so whatever I'm interested in has to fit my user parameters...
PE
2.75 - 3.5 inch blade
No chisel grinds
Liners (either nested or full are OK)
No slipjoints
No blade coating
That leaves a pretty wide field to choose from in the brands I buy.

My dearest Agent Starling, as previously noted, I believe you and I have VERY similar tastes in knives. :) With that said, there are a good number of :spyder: 's that I just have very little real interest in. I've said this before, that I think on this board this may be heresy, but knives like the Manix's, Caly III, Kopas and UKPK just don't "do it" for me. As an example, I have a Caly Jr., and it's a great knife, but it just sees hardly any pocket time. For my small knife needs, I'll always grab either my Lava, Dodo a Cricket or even my Mini Persian over the Caly Jr.
Other knives like the P'kal, Civilian, Captain and Hossums I tend to gravitate towards a little more, but just can't see myself ever using them in the life I live and therefore, can't justify the prices. I have knives like my Chinook, Millies, Paras, Yojimbo and my small collection of hawkies to fill those needs as well as be more "all-purpose" knives at the same time.
Basically, I like useable, EDC curved blades (Harpy, Tasman, Cricket, Dodo, Merlin, SUPERHAWK) as well as the "classic" Spydie lines like the Delicas, Enduras (even though I don't own an Endura YET), Millies and Paras. And since the purchase of my Yojimbo, wharnies are starting to interest me a bit more. I just purchased a Wharcom and am really looking forward to getting it and using it. :D

I just cant get myself interested in the P'kal. Which, is surprising, given my taste for MBC-oriented knives... I dunno. :spyder:

I have no interest in the most of Hawkbills, MBC knives, and FRN handles.
Also there are some knives, which I choose to ignore, because I cannot afford them (very long list.) :o

:spyder: I avoid the smaller "gentleman" knives, I prefer knives suitable for MBC. If I can't fight with it I'm not interested in it. :o :spyder:
