Dragonfly
Dragonfly
The Dragonfly has been one of my very favourite :spyder: folders for about ten years now. I've owned two and have found that even aside from the great ergos, when it comes to size and weight vs. cutting power, almost nothing touches these little things (except maybe the Cricket). Which brings me to my question ...
Will we ever see a VG-10 FRN handled Dragonfly?
Will it see revisions like the ones our new Natives and D4s/E4s brought us?
I have NO idea how popular this model is with customers in general, I just know that for me, it's been a go-to "little big guy" knife for a long time and has gone with me many, many times the larger ones couldn't, yet always peforms 110%.

I agree that the whole Dfly lineup should have VG-10. However, If I were to get any Dfly it would be the etched, which already has VG-10.
At some point I need to conclude my LBK lineup and add an etched Dfly to compliment my Copilot, Spin Etched, and SE Cricket.
I am a LBK guy personally, so these are the knives I like most in the Spyderco lineup. No other knife company has such high quality LBKs.

A VG-10 FRN D'fly may be in the pipeline like the revamp on the Delica and Endura. Perhaps Sal will drop us a hint...... :)

I've said before the Dragonfly deserves a revamp ala the Delica & Endura. Upgraded ergos, VG-10, ambi-clip, jimping. Bring on the Dragonfly 2!
Tricods G-10 mod looked great too.

So many knives, so few pockets... :)

frn...vg10...ergos...jimping...ambi clip...is that everything? :p
definitely no metal liners though, id say keep it solid frn like the frn native models
id definitely carry my dragonfly more if it were vg10, aus8 is ok for the masses but it just isnt for us ELUs i guess :D

Well I suppose I'll throw my 2 cents in.
From what it sounds like, or as far as what Sal has told me, a D-fly upgrade has been in the works for some time however it has been shelved due to being so busy and various other projects. However it sounds like it "may" be done sometime 2008.
Guess we shall see. In the meantime, It sure is fun to modify. I EDC mine and my fiancee EDCs hers. Makeing her a blue G-10 pretty soon as well.

Question: Does the Dragonfly have a RH clip or no clip at all? I'm considering this model as a b-day gift for my sister (who is right-handed) but was just curious.
After asking around, it seems that borderline non-knife women are more likely to keep folding knives in purses than to employ the pocket clip. I know that's a generalization, and I welcome disagreement, but it's something that surprised me when I asked and informed my :spyder: gift shopping.

I have an FRN D'fly and I used to have a SS D'fly. The SS model was not etched and yet it was VG-10 and had very thin small phosphor bronze washers on each side of the blade.
The Dragonfly is one heck of a good knife. Even the FRN model is just Jim Dandy just how it is I think. :)

I want a Dragonfly with VG-10 AND an ambidextrous clip. FRN would be fine, but I'd be happy if they drilled the SS etched for lefty carry.

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.
The 2008 catalog shows the FRN Dragonfly (along with the others) in VG-10.
