wire clip for ATR?

#1

Post by gilliu »

Hi All,

I love my ATR, but hate the clip -- hate it so much that it keeps me from carrying the knife. The clip is too big, and the size / style draws too much attention to itself, in my opinion.

I've seen people mentioning folks that will customize knives -- any recommendations for someone that could make me a wire clip for my ATR?

Thanks,
Gil

You might want to check with STR to see what he can do. The A.T.R. isn't really set up for a wire clip attachment, but perhaps something could be fabricated to mount a wire clip using the three screw holes.

Possibly one of the worst clips on any Spyderco Models I own is on the ATR.

Too tight and too flashy and has no give whatsoever. I broke mine and sent my clip to ATR and he made me a new one. He is a very cool guy to deal with.

:spyder: :spyder:  :spyder: :spyder: Hey all; As many of you know, the Legendary Atr is one of my top favorite Spyderblades EVER!!! Allthough I do like the clip(it isn't my fave'), just don't like the screws used(Ti-Atr specificly); They are philips screws, and I tend to strip the heads. I do agree with comments made...I have a hard time with deployment on certain pants I wear, and in some cases, it does draw attention. I would love, love to have a wire clip put on all three of mine; The wire clip is one of my favorite clips! Let us know what happens dude :)

:spyder: I think the Lil' T and ATR have the BEST CLIP EVER!!! Keeps the knife precisely positioned and is amazing for spin indexing. Everything a good MBC knife needs!

I don't have any complaint about the clips on my ATRs either since the knife was never really designed to be a low profile, low visibility model. That said, it would be interesting to see if someone could come up with a low riding wire clip that would make use of the existing screw holes for attachment.
