Post by Cyblade2020 »

I heard that the G-10 Wings was a largeish byrd dyad whats the blade length. Also what other new byrds are coming out and what variations on existing models like is there an frn or g-10 crossbill yet. I'm dying to know.....

It appears that I received a catalog by mistake prior to it's official release, therefore out of repect to Spyerco and it's dealers I have chose to refrain from posting any information contained in the catalog. Please try to understand and respect my decision in this matter.

...and in a few days we ALL will see what the new year will bring us.

Just a little bit of patience now.... if ONE person already got his catalogue, it can't take much longer until the dealers will have recieved theirs...and after that, it will be on line for all of us!

...can't wait of course.

Good man.

As much as I want to know about the new stuff....that's the right thing to do man.

Enjoy that early catalog.

Yep. When faced with a situation like that, you gotta ask yourself "WWSD" (What Would Sal Do)?

The good thing is not just that you're refraining, but that you're not gloating.

I really dont see where finding out if the blades are 3.5" or 4" long was a state secret. I'm looking for a knife of this type and was going to buy a gerber double take but it was too small in my hands I'm hoping this will be bigger. I know it's gonna be better I just need it to be larger. Oh well just have to sit and wait. I'm really hoping for a fully serrated g-10 crossbill that's my dream bryd.

C'mon Starling, you know that there's a small part of your mind screaming in anticipation. ;)

Cyblade, It may not matter much to say whether the blade is 3.5" or 4", but it's just the principle of the matter. Sal hasn't told us this info, so why should whitefeather? If Sal wants us to know, he'll tell us.

Plus the fact that if whitefeather tells us this bit of info, then he'll have people asking him about other things. It's just easier for him to enact a strict "no-info leaked" policy than to make individual calls based on personal judgement.

Believe me, you can't possibly be more anxious about this catalog than I am. :D :p

...I was just wondering what would everyone else's bosses here say if they were this late on a deadline with any of our projects...

I love spydercos...but...c'mon.

I can tell you right now when I have a design deadline, and if I'm even hours late, the other person ending up footing the bill doesn't go..."well I'm sure it really cool! Can't wait until it comes out!"

...that's all I'm saying.

But we're not paying for Spyderco to send us catalogs...

It was already explained to us, or those that were listening at the time, that the catalogs have to go to all dealers/distributors before they can be sent to the public. Also the catalog is for 2008 and it's still 2007 ;)

Dealer and ELU catalogs have been printed and are being sent out now.

It is the '08 catalog, but we try to have them early and generally do. Joyce had her end together but we had some printer "challenges".

I will say that it is very well done and I think you'll enjoy it.

I will also say that all of the new products planned for '08 are not in the catalog. If delivery was going to be FEB or later, they will go into the supplement.

For byrd's, we have a dual bladed Wings model (double linerlock). A fairly large knife with a belt sheath as well as a clip.

The Catbyrd is out now.

There will be G-10 versions of the; Flight (now in) Crossbill, Raven, Crow & Finch (coming soon).

Spyderco doesn't really have a "deadline" for getting catalogs out (at least the deadline is not set by the ELU). I'm sure we would all like them to come out before the end of 2007 but they don't have to do anything really.
