Very nice pictures. Thank you for sharing.
Photography used to be one of my biggest hobbies, but somehow I lost interest about 10 years ago, few month ago I gave away my old Minolta 5xi with 28-200mm Tamron, 3500 minolta flash, reflectors and bought small Sony digi camera :o

OMG, I was looking through the coney island photos and I saw this picture!

Image

What the ****??!?!? Why are there so many people?!?! Holy Cr@p!

Sorry, that took my main attention, but the photos I looked at look great though! :D I myself started taking pictures with an old camera I found in the back of a closet. It's a film camera, Asashi Pentax K1000. It's extremely old, so yeah... Probably as old as some of you guys, jk jk jk, lol!

At the moment, I'm really frustrated with film so I'm moving onto a digital camera, soon I hope. I'm sure playing with the aperture's and all the other settings have given me some good experience though. I'm not exactly the richest person in the world, but this is what I'm looking at. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 6007546740

Here are a few pictures I took with that film camera that I thought didn't even work. Terrible quality becuase they are scans of prints.

Some are crooked becuase of how I put them in the scanner.

Great photos guys. I like photography as well but I don't use any fancy equipment. I am also kinda the unofficial "officical"photographer for our dog club.

LOL :D

Anthonyc,
I picked up a $2000 Nikkor macro lens just for the sole purpose of taking knife shots  .... shhhhhh.... don't tell my wife.

I like taking photos....don't have any 'training' or anything.... just got given a small camera when I was 6 yrs old ??? and been taking photos ever since. Don't think about it too much, my main strength being composition rather than any technical aspect of photography. I don't do any Photoshopping.....cos I'm a lazy bugger :p

Personally I shoot real estate photos for my parents' company which I also now work in. I shoot a Nikon D70 with mainly a 12-24mm lens for the office. For home, just got myself a Nikon D80 with a 17-200mm lens, and of course the awesome 60mm Nikkor macro :p :D .

I actually think the cheaper and older D70 shoots 'warmer' photos even with full auto. D80 gets 'tricked' too often by different lighting situations..... or maybe because I have been using the D70 for longer I find it easier to control

Anyhow, great pics all of you. I wish to be as good a photographer as you guys. I need to practice more on real photography.

Cheers
Dan

I got the S3 (and of course the S5 came out a couple of months later) but I am mostly happy with it. I dont like it for low light situations but other than that is is a good camera. The S5 seems to have some upgraded featurse that could be useful (and cool) let us know what you think of it after you try it out.

Regarding the photoshop I have it but i dont do much doctoring of the photos I take for the most part. But it is good to have just in case as it does do some really cool stuff. My wife uses it alot actually for the news letters she does.

I suggest fredmiranda.com over dpreview, but that's me. The forum over there is huge, and there are people of all levels who post over there. They also have a buy and sell section where you can buy some used gear for a lot cheaper than new. I've saved thousands by buying gear there....

I'm a press photographer, not to mention shoot for fun. I shoot a Canon 1DIIN and 20D currently. I've got glass from 15 to 800mm before teleconverters. I'm mostly a fan of supertelephoto lenses and shoot wildlife for fun, my favorite subjects are raptors. To most people, a walkaround lens is something like a 24-70 or 28-200...mine is usually a 29" long 300-800mm f/5.6, which wheighs in at just under 14 pounds. 70mm is a wideangle to me ;)

I don't have the 300-800mm or 15mm fisheye in this photo, but this is most of my camera gear (click for a larger version):
Image

http://malice4you.deviantart.com/gallery/ has some of my other stuff, though there's a lot that I never uploaded publicly.

Nice work has been posted so far.

There was one event where I brought the 400 2.8, 300 2.8, 200 1.8, 135 2.0, 70-200 2.8, 24-70 2.8, and 1D, 20D, and 10D with me. Oh, and had to park 1/2 mile from the event while carrying all that, plus a tripod and camera bag, in one trip. Was not happy about that ;)

so....grand total was somewhere in the 40-45 pounds range, 2/3 that hanging off my neck...lol

When I'm shooting telephoto, I really do consider a 70mm a wide lens. For when I'm not shooting sports/wildlife, then I do have some ultra-wides - including the 15mm fisheye and 16-35/17-40/24-70
