Great idea. Spyderco is going to use it anyway, just laser etch as many as need it. It will be very special forum knife.

How about something that can be utilized by all of the forum members!
  • No Lock
  • sub 3"
Spyderco is a Global company and we have many members that have laws restricting what they can carry.

Now for the good part :D We as forum members know that the premium steels used by Spyderco are capable of a much more acute edge geometry. We also know that the general public would not understand the extra care and limitations of this type of grind. Who would appreciate this more than a forum member? :D :D

What's your opinions on this?

I'm thinking of doing something for Spyderco for doing stuff for us all the time.

Email me at lowrydw ^at^ yahoo.com and I will send you info on this idea.

I've created a free forum where we can all discuss this at so that it can be a semi-surprise for Spyderco. I'll send you the forum address as a reply email.

What do you say?

We could all band together and order Pizza's for lunch for them one day. I mean for everyone in the entire Golden, Colorado facility.

Those folks interested in this please email me. lowrydw ^at^ yahoo dot com

Guess my post-WWII upbringing comes into play here, had to eat my green beans and spinach because "children were starving in Europe". Carry a locker now to compensate for those poor souls in countries where that right does not exist. ;) :D

On a more serious note, I'd have no problem with a non-locking forum knife, since I never carry any of mine anyway. Who knows, maybe Sal still has a stash of Prides somewhere.

I would also not have a problem with a non locking forum knife. I would love to get a UK Pen Knife at some point, but then again I would love to get everything at some point. :D

For 95% of what I do a slipjoint would do fine.

I would love to see a D'Allara DP with a special handle color (blue?) as the next forum knife.

I love that knife!

I've started this thread some times ago, but I did not wrote which knife
I'd like to see as a Forums Knife.
What about a Spyderco 'S' with a solid (non-skeletonized) blade and maybe
a handle in a different colour than silver or black ?

A while ago I suggested a solid blade S for the forum knife. Sal said that it would require new tooling because the blade is made via metal injection molding. New tooling = too much time & money for a forum knife unfortunately.

No lock and sub 3" sounds like the Urban. I think that would be a great forum knife, but will the Urban be out soon enough?

It would also be really cool to see a forum knife with a thinner grind.

How about...

How about the first of the Mule project in 52100? I know that a lot of folks do not have the opportunity to carry a fixed blade, but it seems like good timing to me. I was hoping to get two anyway. :)

Conflict of interest. The mule is meant to be used. The forum knife (for many) is meant to be kept pretty...
