Blade-Tech Knives

Post by Bluntrauma »

Was wondering if anyone owned one or had any information on the quality of these knives?

I'm really interested in this info as well. Tim has some really nice designs. Spydieguys has started keeping a lot of them in stock right now.

I've got several Blade-Tech knives... mostly the Lite ones that have 440c and FRN scales like the Mouse Lite, MLEK Lite, Hunter Lite..... All are well made with close tolerances and I recommend them without reservation..... I'm a fan of Wegner designs.... ;)

My only experience with blade-tec knives are the Tarani folding karambit. The masters model, were some pretty stout folders. Take care and God Bless You all! :D

Yeah thats where I saw them. Something about that mouse reminds me a few Spyderco knives. I would love to pick one up and see what its made of.

the mouse is what got my attention recently, but I like the responder and the prohunter as well. The prohunter looks just a little familiar :)

I have the Mouse Lite, and am very happy with it. Fit/finish are good (about on par with Spyderco). It's a very small knife (I almost never carry small knives like this) that I happen to like a lot; it's handy, doesn't frighten the "sheeple", and works well. I'd really like to try their higher-end folders like the Pro-Hunter.

Jim I was looking at the mouse lite as well. Found them for 29.00. How would you describe their size by comparing it to say a nav 2 or subcom?

Actually, Spyderco used to have the Mouse (they came out with the design first).

I'd say it's somewhat close to the Subcom in length; the Mouse's blade is not nearly as wide, though.

The Mouse is such a handy size, you don't even know you have it. It'll fit into the watch pocket of a pair of jeans perfectly with the clip. The ergonomics and blade profile are great; I just wish it was a smidgin longer on its handle. My hands are average size, and I could use just a tiny more bit of purchase, but it doesn't bother me. This is one of my favorite small knives, and I'm not usually a small knife fan.

$29.00, eh? That's a nice deal! I'd snap one up if I were you! I guarantee you'll like it. Who's offering them for $29, if I might ask?

for that price, I'd like to know too. Is the only difference between the mouse lights and regulars the steel itself?

Well Stonyman and my fellow Spyder-Brethren I cut my Karambit teeth on this BLADE-TECH Master's Model that Stonyman is telling you about. And he ain't lying either it is a really top notch Karambit. It spoiled me so bad that when the Spyderco Karambit came out I was a bit disappointed :o Actually I was significantly disappointed that they didn't come out with a G-10 handled Karambit. Well that's in the history books.

I've had 4 BLADE-TECH knives all together and I can say that I was impressed with the quality of all of them. I had the one that was styled like Spyderco's C-48 Wegner model and mine had a rough Carbon Fiber handle with an S30V blade that was coated. And it took a guy with a VG-10 Spyderco C-56 Zowada model to get me to trade it

Spyderco will always be my main line knife addiction barring that they would sell the company to some compromising corporation but I would never turn my nose up at any BLADE-TECH product. I got to meet Tim Wegner at the 2005 Blade Show in ATLANTA and had a nice talk with him. I was truly impressed with the guy and would have no reservations recommending doing business with him. BUT They AIN't THE GREAT SPYDER FACTORY>> and with that nothing else needs to be said ;)

Your favorite pharmacy in Virginia's got them .... ;)
Yeah, sometimes i have trouble choosing between my Mouse Lite and a Subcom Folder..... the Subcom's blade is much wider and seems to be ground thinner at the edge than the Mouse Lite......and the Subcom folder also has that beloved full flat grind.... both great knives for the price.....

The knives really don't send me but their prices on Lithium photo batteries for your Surefire Flashlights is very fair. Doc :D

Jim thanks for taking the time to give the mini review. I think I will pick one up. Sure I don't mind letting you know where to pick them up for 29. The link is at the bottom of the post. I do not know anything about the site however. Perhaps someone has dealt with them. I just may have to take one for the team here. :)

The only thing that has kept me from buying a Bladetech knife is the ugly words on the blade. Anyone know if that business is removable?

With Flitz all things are possible. Serious though, I do not know. I just ordered one and would be happy to let you know when it arrives. I don't care for it either. My dremel and I await its arrival. :)

I have had a MLEK lite for about 3 weeks now. The fit and finish was good for it's price. I was impressed with the sharpness of the blade from the factory(almost spydie sharp) The lockup is solid and tip up carry is definitely safe as the initial opening pressure is heavy. The 440c is sharpened easily, but other steels have spoiled me on edge holding by comparison. The handle shape is very secure and the texture of the FRN is grippy. The idea of getting a knife to test it's ergos without buying the most expensive model paid off. I will upgrade soon for the s30v,g10, and dlc. , boats

I have the Bladetech CF Mouse, if you are going to cheat on Spyderco, do it with the hottest blade you can find. ;)
