Date on Byrd Rescue Models?
Date on Byrd Rescue Models?
Does anyone know when the Cara Cara and Meadowlark Rescue knives are coming out?
I've noticed that the Serrated Byrds still have at least a short piece of plain edged at the tip. Will the Byrd Rescues have a short plain piece at the tip like the blue rescue?
I've always liked the Rescue knives for hard work use, especially the blue version (I think - I never have owned one).
Sal, can you shed any light on this subject?

I got one in Golden
I picked up a Meadowlark Rescue last week at the Spyderco outlet in Golden. I took it with on a 27 mile river rafting trip this past weekend. It held up just fine. It's a great knife for the money. The only shortcoming is that the groove in the handle is still shaped for the original Meadowlark blade so the rescue blade sits out a bit when it's folded.

I consider at least a short length of PE on the end of a sheepsfoot blade to be a good thing. I think the blue Rescue had the ideal balance - 80% SE, 20% PE. I just don't like carrying a knife without a point of some sort on it - it's one of the 'parts' of the knife that are just supposed to be there.

There was a mistake from the factory and the byrd Rescue models were supposed to be fully serrated. As quite a few of you know, our serrations have been a learning experience for the factories that manufacture byrd knives for us.
Unfortunately, the packaging is marked as SBK (because that is what we intended them to be). We will still be getting fully serrated byrd Rescue models, but it will take a few months for the production.

There is nothing more important than this one day.

Trade-in?
Kristi - Is there any chance I could trade mine in for a fully serrated blade once they become available?TazKristi wrote:There was a mistake from the factory and the byrd Rescue models were supposed to be fully serrated.
