I wish I did. The garage sales around here pretty much suck. :)

Saw a fixed blade Schrade once, years ago. Never seen a folder at a garage sale. Folders show up at local flea markets quite a bit, usually very low quality stuff. I have seen a few upscale folders at pawn shops. That's where I'd hunt if I had the time anymore.

Years ago I found a Remote Release at the flea market, I think I paid $20 for it, a few weeks later the FRN handle broke and the wonderful folks at spyderco replaced it with a brand new one no charge. To this day it has been clipped in my backpack full time.

I must be an exception to the rule.
Over the last 3-4 years I have done quite well at flea markets and garage sales. Most of the spydies were the older FRN clip versions but an occasional rare find would come along. A few examples would be;

Evolution Edition
Black blade ATS34 Military
PE Tuffram Civilian

Please don't ask me how little I paid, I hate to see grown men cry :)

Gun shows yes, but never at garage sales or flea markets. But, that may be because I don't attend many of the latter.

The best yard sale deal that I ever heard of was this one

Ok, gun shows are fair game too, then. What kind of bargains have shown up at gun shows?

When I was younger my Dad bought me some unknown Spyderco. My Mom didn't like the idea of me having a knife (sheeple Mom, divorced parents). She took the knife from me and I never saw it again.

Fast forward to a couple of years ago I asked her whatever happened to that knife and a few other knives that she confinscated from my childhood. She replied that she sold them in one of her many garage sales that she had over the years. When I asked how much money she got from the sale she said that she didn't rememmber but, it was probably between $.50 and $1.00.

The moral of the story is however rare, it is possible to find a quality knife at a garage sale. Or in my case lose a quality knife :( .

Some I've bought at shows.
Millie 440V SE
440V natives SE X2 $30 ea
worker comm. in box, like new $50
Blue Lum Chinese LNIB 125
catcherman $30
C34, C37, C36, all $30
Rookie & J.D Smith SE $35 ea.
Spydercard $25
C22PBK Formerly C37PBK Walker $30 / Jess Horn with Aus 8 steel ( forgot # $35)

Hit or miss. You need to know which dealers to look at too. There are some I've known for 15 years. Joe

This purchase wasn't at a sale, but it kinda fits into the idea of cheap
Spydies.

I saw a Spyderco in the pocket of a co-worker and asked what kind it was. He pulled it out and it was an SE Delica 3 with VG-10 steel. It was pretty filthy and hadn't been sharpened in a long while. He let me see it and I said it was a heck of a knife. He said "I tell you what, it is yours for 10 bucks." I almost sprained my thumb getting to my wallet!

One trip to the kitchen sink to scrub off the gunk and a trip to Golden to get resharpened and it was like a brand new knife. So of course I had to do a few cutting tests in front of the guy I bought it from. His look was worth every penny
