Blade '07 Update
Two days with out air?
I wish they would move it back to Knoxville.Last couple times I went while the show itself was just as good I noticed the people that ran the center where it is held has gotten much worse. The mall was almost empty last year,I think I saw two places to eat and just a couple shops open.

Wow, I didn't know they use to have it in my home town(were I grew up)! I hate to say this but now that I know about the AC problem; I'm glad that I didn't attend. Me and heat don't get a long!J Smith wrote:Two days with out air?

The A/C worked ok once it had a chance to get rolling (late afternoon). The problem was that they did not turn it on ahead of time. I would think this will be fixed next year.
If you want a Knoxville knife show, you are in luck! (See below.) With any luck, I will be there, as I seem to have become addicted to knife shows! You never know who will have a bone Jess Horn hidden among his collection of Bone NKCA collectible knives that is for sale!

There isn’t any symbolism. The sea is the sea. The old man is an old man. The boy is a boy and the fish is a fish. The shark are all sharks no better and no worse. All the symbolism that people say is ****.

I hear what you're saying as a fellow steel junky but as it has turned out the N690Cobalt has been adequate in big knives and chopping instruments. 3V is almost an impact steel compared to most stainlesses ( It's carbon of course) and has it's place but every knife I've had with N690Cobalt has been up to the task. It's done well in Hossoms knives, Spyderco and otherwise.dani wrote:I hope not to see another blade in N690Co. I believed CPM-3V was the steel for this knife...
3V has it's place of course but I wouldn't discount the performance of the P690Co steel.
Personally in any folding belt or "pocket" knife I'd rather have edge retention than shock resistance, or a good balance of the two, which P690Co is. For serious chopping I get my axe, or Maul out better yet.
I'd love to see the big knife in CPM M4 personally, though that's not really necessessary. It has decent shock resistance but better edge retention than 3V ( 3V has less edge retention than it's stainless counterpart, s30V according to Cruicible). It would be expensive though.
Perhaps it's wishfull thinking on my part. CPM M4 is probably more suited to the mule project than a regular production model. I do now have experience with S90V and am ready to have all folders converted to that, or ZDP. They are that good. Just my opinion. Joe

BTW, I'm going to use this year to find a good dog & house sitter so I can attend next years blade. I'm going to dress up like a nerd with 4 or 5 cameras and bug Kristi to take pictures of all the secret stuff. Then I'll make like I can't speak english and pretend to begin taking photos. We'll see how tough The Taz really is. :D Big Kahuna, You figure I'll need some smoke screens and distractions to make a getaway or will fast feet be enough? Joe

I wish I could Darkfin. I really do have dog sitting problems currently. I'm up to 3 and am single. It would be a nice drive this time of year. I'm saving up for a few S90 Millies now anyway. I've got a Microtech Socom in S90 that is ok, But not the same thing as a Millie. I was reading the tests on Bladeforum comparing the CPM d2 with Friction Forged D2 and the CPM D2 looks like it should be a keeper. More saving up.
I won't be working any shows untill august so there's no extra money for me. Being a dealer at the shows helps find stuff . Last one I found a Blue Lum NIB. I grabbed it before they opened the doors! I also picked up the 20th comm. worker box set NIB, for $50. I felt like Felly for a minute. :)
I want to say what you did for Blade and the members here was a good thing. Maybe next year I can buy you a decent lunch if you make that one. Joe

Awww shucks, Joe. "a good thing" is a bit high praise. Honestly, I just wish more of the good folks I have been privileged to meet on these here forums were able to be there. I am hopeful that I can get more interest next year, and I will keep trying!
As for the knoxville show, PLEASE EMAIL ME if you are going to be there--I will take your photo! :p
