Plain Edged Q?

#1

Post by Lsaulog »

Hello Fellow Spydie Folks,

Can anyone tell me if a plain-edged Q was ever produced? If so, are they as rare as a "white elephant"?

Thanks.

Lsaulog,

Yes, they were, that's the one I own. I think they might be rare, and I also think I just saw one on eBay... try a search, I was just there.

Yet again,

I'm doin' a little eBay surfing myself and found two plain-edged Q's. I just didn't know how "rare" they actually were.

Thanks for the info Kahz!

Lsaulog,

I just did a search on eBay and I came up with a couple plain edged ones, also, if you care to look at a photo of one, go to my home page, Armoury section, the first photo is the one I own (not for sale, tho, it was my first Spydie, so it's the spoiled brat )

These are the ones I found on eBay:

Nice pix of your blades 'n stuff!

Thanks for the links on eBay. I've put them on my "watch" list. If you don't spoil what you love, who will?

Mail-call, Kahz.

I have a plain edge SOLID(no cut-outs) blade Q that I picked-up at a knife show last century. See if you can find one of those. They may be rarer than the PE skeletonized blade. I have one just like Kahz' as well.

Hey Kahz,

Could I get the address to your homepage? I'd like to look at your armory, if you don't mind. If you don't like giving out the address or you do mind, just disregard this posted message. Thanx.

zatoichi,

It's in my profile. BTW, I made that armoury with the idea of a larger page, one year ago. So it has not been updated since I no longer have access to a digital camera. Maybe next year you will get to see more of my shiny metal stuff.

gracias kahz. Cool website. You wouldn't happen to be Mexican, would you? I noticed you went to school in Monterrey, Mexico.....I'm Mexican, which is why I asked. Nice blades, senora kahz. I just read in book about Spanish artes blancas, that women who like knives maybe dangerous navajeras. But that's supposed to pertain to women in Spain. talk to u later.

zatoichi,

I am Mexican, born there from Mexican parents as well, grew up there most of my life, partly in central Mexico, partly in the north, sometimes living in the US and other places.

I did not study in Monterrey, but at a school which main Campus is in Monterrey. I got my bachelor's degree at the Campus located in the City of Chihuahua, in Northern Mexico. I do not know about "artes blancas", but do share your knowledge, please.

artes blancas or white arts is the spnish term for spanish edged weapons' arts. They may include fencing, even. I'm from Mexico City. Soy Chilango or mexican w/ spanish ancestry. My last name is Figueroa. My ancestors are from mid-eastern Spain, from a region known as Castilla. I speak Castellano, not mexican spanish. The difference is that it's supposed to be like the difference between English from Britain and English from America. But whatever, I'm full Mexican. Not even hispanic or chicano, even though I speak English as well as any other US citizen. I have some Spanish friends from northern spain, but they live in the San Francisco bay area. They didn't come here until recently, so I'm going to ask them about Spanish knife fighting & see what they say.....I won't bore you with anything else about myself. Anything else you'd like to know? Let me know. I'll be on the forum for a while.....

zatoichi,

Estudie parte de mi carrera en España y me fascina ese pais, especialmente Barcelona. I grew up in Mexico City, so I am part Chilanga. I also speak English like an American, but I am Mexican, I started speaking English at age 6. I was born in Chihuahua (yo soy del mero Chihuahua, del mineral del Parral! ).

Ok, socializing apart...

So, artes blancas sounds interesting. Where did you read about them? Any bibliography you may recommend?

I recommend everyone's favorite (it's fairly popular) -Sevillian Steel, by James Loriega
can be found at paladin press
Sorry I can't write in Spanish as well as you can. I'm trying. I know I should practice more. My spanish friends call me "el Bolillo". You know how cruel guys can be.... I'll let you know If I find anything, ok? I'll continue to look....

zatoichi,

[in Spanish to make it easier]

Muchas gracias.
