EDC thread II - what did you cut today?

clovisc wrote:maybe it's a cliche thread, but it's always one of my favorites. i feel like getting to know what actually gets carried and used is one of major benefits of forums -- EDC is really the heart of the knife world!!!
That's how clovisc started his recent thread "EDC tread -- who's carring what?"
I believe that "what actually gets carried" part has been pretty much covered.
How about "what actually gets...used" part?
Seriously. How all those EDCs are getting used?
What did you cut today/yesterday/last week?
What did you use to cut it?
Maybe some pictures?

The only thing I've used my knife for today is opening mail which was with a Harpy. I use my knife for pretty regular chores around the house, and food prep on the go and in the kitchen.

Sometimes I even look for an excuse to use my knives, I just like to cut things. :D

I opened a box of dog biscuits, a toy from a happy meal, and the box my new Johnny Thunders CD came in. All done with a Kershaw titanium Bump, yes a plain edge knife.

Good idea for a new thread. Used a clad ZDP Caly Jr PE to shave-fit pieces of a woodworking project, then cardboard, then zip ties, then cleanly slice a tomato for a lunchtime sammitch. Nice when you can still cleanly cut a tomato after working on wood and cardboard.

Jester saw some box opening and cutting last night.
D'Allara sliced my sammach in half and my 3AM lunch. :)

Been a rather low volume day for cutting here. CF Caly 3 got used to cut up a turkey cutlet for lunch, and a tomato, some cauliflower florets, and a few water chestnuts for my salad tonight. Jet Kiwi got used to open the wrapping on a bag of microwave popcorn, and three letters.

Today, I used my new CE military (it's first day at work) to cut up some pieces of old 3 strand sinking rope, which I unlaid and used to tie up 4 25 fathom coils of floating rope. ;) We are bringing in traps, and this morning we brought in 60, which is a pretty big boatload for us. we use a long loop of rope, doubled, and seized with an eye as a harness to lift boxes of bait and lobsters onto and off of the boat and wharf, and if you thread each loop through the rope bridles of the traps (where they tie to the groundline) you can hoist eight traps off at a time. well, the electric hoist seized up on us, we couldn't get the last eight traps off of the boat with it. AND to make matters worse, there were eight traps hanging about a foot and a half from the wharf on a taut box strap. first we cut the bridle of one trap, but only that trap came free. then I did another, and that trap came free. We positioned the six that were still just hanging there over the two free ones (so they wouldn't fall too far, they are pretty heavy, 60 lbs a piece) and I zipped right through a doubled 7/16ths piece of three strand sinking line with that combo edge. one cut, two pieces of taut, abraisive rope. what a knife!
Then, after all of that, the blade was still sharp, there were hardly any scratches (the two bridles were barnicle encrusted) and some mud and after cleaning the knife this evening (this was all about 10 AM) there was a tiny bit of discoloration on the blade that wiped off.

I think this is my knew work knife. now, how do I get mud out of G-10? :D

I got a copy of "Down to Kill'' a 2 CD (One of studio demos, the second is Live at the Speakeasy 1977, both sets, great sound quality) 1 DVD (live at the Lyceum and Live at the Marquee Club with some studio stuff thrown in, excellent quality) box set. It completes my Thunders collection! Yeah I dig that junkie too.
Cheers!

Lets see... a 'day' for me is from the crack of noon till 0500/0600...

Carry this past couple days has been the standard belt & left pocket, millie on neck, lil temp clipped, cricket as moneyclip.

yesterday: cricket to open a toy from mc d's, mail, dvd packages (aeon flux, dead like me season 1, the hills have eyes)... millie to slice pizza, finally took tag off camera bag.

today: millie to open mail, slice pizza (and box), open package of thai chicken for lunch, open package of curry chicken for supper... lil temp to open flat of juice (x2)... vnox cybertool to take care of cable tie on server comp (just got back from adding 16x dvd-rom, good hour of swearing)... CKE shop knife(clipped on vest) to open bags of dried fruit (cherries and mango)
Coffee before Conciousness
Why do people worry more if you argue with your voices than if you just talk with them? What about if you lose those arguements?
Slowly going crazy at work... they found a way to make the voices work too.
