N690Co vs VG-10?
N690Co vs VG-10?
How does N690Co compare with VG-10 or S30V?
i'd say it probably depends on the treatment...
haven't tried spyderco's N690 yet, but benchmade's sharpens up very easily to a VERY sharp edge, holds an edge a longer than AUS-8... although not as long as spyderco's VG-10, and certainly nowhere near as long as S30V.
i've found it a pretty great outdoor steel, although the BM N690 seems to acquire rust spots pretty quickly. personally, i love N690 for camp knives...
i'm curious about what everyone thinks of spyderco's N690, so far, only to be found in the volpe...

N690 is 440F, like 440C with a little cobolt...very similar to VG10...
Most of my knives are made using 440F, and the edge holding is slightly better than 440C... :)
S30V will be a better edge holder than both...
