my small recurve design

#1

Post by speyederlover »

This is my first attempt at a recurve design. It is also my first attempt at a false edge. Blade is right at 3" long made of 154 CM with satin finish. Handles are black/green G10 scalloped for better grip. Overall I think the grind if decent, but I'm not real wild about the handles.

The grinds looks nice and crisp from here, which I like very much.
The scales don't look bad to me, its just another approach.
Maybe you have to experiment until you feel it is right.

I think the problem with the scales is that they were added as an afterthought. The blade itself looks great, and i like the simplistic lanyard. I have the same type of lanyard on my kiwi.

keep it up!

The scallops were not really an afterthought, but more of a look that I was attempting. The attempt was pathetic. I may take them off and try again. Stay tuned for new pics in a couple of days. Thanks for taking a look guys! I appreciate the feedback.

Very nice!!! I love the clean, elegant lines!!! I actually like the handles too...here's a thought: instead of the scallop shapes, make them more like triangles...?

Keep up the great work!!

Tim :D

I love the blade grind, but I also think that knife would be perfect if you got rid of the scallops.

I've gotta say, those handles make me think you could cut fat off a greased pig and you wouldn't loose your grip. In a word-grippy. And the blade-wow. How did you do the scallops? Maybe a jig of some sort could work to keep them more symmetrical.

The handle is nice... I'd like to see what you do to improve upon it. ;)

I like the blade. Only thing I would like to see is a little bit more of a false edge, but I definately like the blade. Nice work!
