What is the benefit of a laminated blade?
From what I understand (and someone correct me if wrong) it depends on the point of manufacture in Japan. One of the points of manufacture needs to work with the steel in a laminated fashion (stamping).

Did this one turn out as sharp as the burgundy sprint? The Burgundy sprint was a heck of a cutter and turned some heads.

Does anybody on the Spyderco team know what the ZDP is RC'ed at? Is it the same for laminated and non laminated?

Thank you very much. I'm expecting mine Saturday. I only ordered one to allow some others to get their knife too. I might get a couple out of the second batch , or the first if they don't sell fast. Not much chance of that as they are already. Joe

Phew. I wasn't sure if I'd missed out on this one, but my friends at "the pharmacy" came through (as they always do). Mine should be here by the weekend. :D

I just got off the phone with Mary Beth and she said I made the list too. I wasn't sure I had signed up in time. They have the best price at $66.10 so I went ahead and got two. I can't believe some that signed up have actually turned them down.

Does anyone know if Bond's House of Cutlery in 'Vegas is part of that distribution chain? :) I'm planning to be there in mid May for a pool tournament and planning a stop there. My list for that trip is looking expensive :)

Many thx in advance - gord

I was one that turned mine down from NGK ( I got 1 from Savson though). It was a pipe bursting in the wall with around $700 expenses my side, plus the Insurance companies cut of well over a thousand. I had got on the list back in july and was near the top of it.

Stuff happens when you're a homeowner ( whose wife left with the savings) :o I'm hoping to be back to normal when the ZDP enduras come around. That's a big hope though. Joe

Lynn at Bond's house of Cutlery is great to deal with. Last time I talked to her a month or so ago they were waiting to get shipment of some of the current models. She has a pretty good selection of older Spydercos but expect to pay top dollar for those.

Good Luck and have fun

I will have to agree with SM. I have ordered a fair amount of stuff from her and the service is top notch but expect to pay MSRP! ;)

Many thx for that. Yes, I found they were pretty well at the US MSRP for most things, BUT it's also pretty well a one stop shop :) I make it a point, actually, to drop by there each trip down (last 3 years in a row, since I started collecting) usually drop any where from $100-200 in there- just never had quite enough cash :) I'm planning to spend more there this year - been adding in a few slipjoints into my collection - REALLY liking Queens since I got one a week or so ago. So.....between a couple of those, some Spydies, and maaaaybe a SureFire of some sort, maaaybee some "others" that catch my eey - I can see $500 or so to be just the starting point :) Nice thing about that though, is that I'll have something to show for the money spent. I'm not a big gambler, per se, but those slot machines are like vacumn cleaners on your pockets :) Each time, I've gone down, I've had to do a fair amount of scrimping here and there, so this is going to be a change for me - it's not that it hasn't been fun - it's always fun down there, but THIS TIME... :D

About half way down:

Color pictures provided by Spyderco Forummite Civilian, with his express permission.

Hopefully it is, but still, Civilian, is this info correct?

Hi Guys,

For obvious reasons, I like to keep my knife dealing and my Forum enjoyment somewhat separate. It's only fair to operate that way. But I wanted to post the return note I got from Civilian with regard to my request to utilize his pics...for the record....

Are these sprints or will they remain in production?

I only briefly read through the action this morning, and I missed that part. Glad to see they weren't taken without asking. :)

David, these aren't Sprints per se. They were a special run for the distributor, and I believe Sal stated that it would be possible for the distributor to order more in the future if desired.
