YELLOW > And here's why

Post by JD Spydo »

I personally like yellow for those type of knives because they are easy to find if you drop them in the water. They are also easy to keep track of on fishing trips.

If you could find an older Yellow Catcherman you would really find that to be a prize.

I carry a yellow handled TASMAN when I am up in the wetlands working and I have had it fall out of my pocket twice and Thank GOD it was very easy to find.

Personal preference I guess. A lot of people don't like the color of yellow but I think it makes for a neat looking, sheeple friendly knife handle.

Black FRN is boring.
Yellow is more sheeple friendly.

My Salt 1 Black is my very first Spydie. As Gollum said, black is boring :p . Be honest with you, I kinda refuse to carry my black Salt 1 simply because it is black; I carry Yellow Tasman Salt everyday :D .

Another vote for yellow. The only situation I can think of where a black handle would be better would be if you were trying to keep it concealed (and even then, at night).

Definately yellow. My little brother just got a yellow Salt 1. I was a little worried at first, because I had never actually seen the yellow product in person (just pictures) and I thought it might be a little bit too yellow, if you know what I mean. I was wrong.

I really like the yellow salts after seeing my bro's. I've been thinking about getting a yellow SE Pacific Salt to keep in my bunker gear.

Get yellow. The black is too much like an Endura/ Delica. Gotta differentiate :D .

I have a yellow Tasman SE. I think it is a great color for the salt series. I'd go for the yellow.

The yellow has better edge retention... Of course, I might be saying that because I like the yellow better. It is just more different and easier to find quick.

another vote for yellow here!!!

when you take it out to use in public, makes your knife look less like a tactical weapon of doom and more like a friendly lego object.

also, VERY easy to find!

My Dad has a yellow Salt 1, and I have to say its pretty Awesome, was even surprized that his Salt 1 didnt get a blue hue to it, since he allways weres blue jeans, and he has worn it as his EDC for 3 months now. So I would have to say Yellow.

On any other forum I wouldn't even chime in considering but...

I carry a black PE Tasman whenever I'm at the beach if only because it is easier to conceal IWB of my black trunks. And while I appreciate every chance to show off my Spydies, the yellow FRN would call too much attention which I don't always want around NKP. So consider that while it may be a friendlier color, it can also be a lot more noticeable.

Well, I flat out hate yellow on a handle  . IMO it makes the knife look like a toy to me :(

I like black all the way. The only coloured handle I don't hate is the one on my ZDP Delica ;)

Yellow. As others have observed it is easy to find, far less likely to be perceived as a weapon by the general public, and seems the more fitting color choice for a Salt series knife.
