I was wondering if anyone has got any tips on how to refinish or minimize wear-and-tear on the Ayoob's almite finish.
I know it's supposed to be tough and scratch proof, but after a few months of EDC I can see a grey outline along the edges of the knife where the almite seems to be wearing off like blueing does on a gun over time. Also, a pair of fine scratches have appeared.
Is this normal? Am I missing something?

Yes, I am Irish. Originally from Co. Donegal, but now I live in Dublin.
As far as I can see, there isn't a single source for Spyderco products in Ireland, north or south- at least, I haven't been able to find any.
I worked in New York over the summer, and purchased a few. Rather than risk bringing them through in my luggage, due to recent unpleasantness, I posted them home.

Ah well, I figured that would be your answer but I was half hoping you knew a shop that had a half price sale and if you bought one knife you got two free. :p
I certainly don't know any here either except of a couple of places on UK mainland but they cost a fortune. At least you got a couple when you were in the US.

Well, I know two people who have ordered and successfull received Spydercos they ordered from the factory shop. I thought customs might give us trouble, but it looks like the coast is clear. I wouldn't be happy making a big order, but I'm probably going to order a Gunting around christmas time.

Also- on the subject of the Almite coating, I'd still appreciate a response from anyone who has experience. I was under the impression that it was a tough finish- but it doesn't seem to be. How much of it will come off over the next few years?
