I heard there is a spyderco knife collectors club. Does anyone have any information on this? I sent Spyderco an email but I am sure they get thousands and have not processed mine as yet.

I also requested information by e-mail. It took about three weeks to get it by mail.

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay...the person here who oversees our Collector Club is Kelly Williams and she's out of the office this week on business. Here are the basics....

The Collector Club consists of 200 numbers. You purchase an available number and when new model Spydercos come in, the first 200 are numbered with each piece going to the number holder. There are several numbers available now (contact Kelly for specifics). When you join the collector club you agree to purchase all new models that Spyderco makes, engraved with your number.

The cost? That depends on what we're releasing this year. In the mid-90s the Michael Walker carbon fiber AND the Jess Horn jigged-bone came out in the same year, both were very expensive knives.

People that have decided to sell their collections have done exceptionally well. Last year a nearly complete numbered collection had starting bids on ebay of 5 figures.

Hope this helps somewhat and thanks for your patience. Kelly will get back to you. You can also give her a yell next week at kwilliams@spyderco.com or 800-525-7770 X219

One additional fact is that the collector's knives cannot be purchased directly. You will have to arrange to purchase them through a local dealer. I was disappointed in that. It would seem that I should be able to supply a credit card number that could be charged by the company everytime a new model is shipped to me. A number of California wineries sell directly to consumers on their mailing lists in this fashion.

I have to share Grim Reaper's concern. The Spderco Collector's Club is very appealling - but I don't have a local dealer. The closest one I can find listed is about 300 miles away. Some alternative method of purchasing the knives would be a real advantage!
