Well, I must sat that I am a bit envious Paul!! The Persian is simply beautiful! Someday I really would like to get one of the ATR's. I have handled one once. It was sweet and smooth. It was the SS model. And once again I am reminded of how bad I screwed up by not getting one of Chads forum knives!!
I did get a Caly 3 though, and I love it.

Thanks for the pics, Ron

Brilliant pictures. Wow! Thank you kindly.

Stunning engraver's work.

Really nice stump. Not the beaver chewed ones we get around these parts.

All the best,

Thanks everyone. Here's a closeup of the engraving on the Persian. Took about two dozen shots, this was the best. Am not really pleased with it, but it does show off the gold inlays well.

A favorite is hard to pick.

The Forum Lava would be my sentimental choice, as I consider the designer to be my younger brother and have had the pleasure of watching this knife go from a drawing, to a plastic mock up, to a concept model I got to hold at the NYCKS, to production prototype and then into production. Having it selected as the 2006 Forum knife probably pleased me almost as much as it pleased Chad.

The Persian is also very special to me, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have gotten it. Marcus put it on eBay as a 1 day auction. My jaw almost hit the keyboard when I found the listing minutes before I had to leave for work at 7am. The auction had only about 5 hours left to go. I have no access to eBay from work, so I had to bid right then and there, and pray that I would not be outbid. To make matters worse, it was my school night, so I did not even know I'd been successful until I got home shortly before 9pm that evening. Needless to say I was tickled pink to find that it was mine.

Think it's safe to say that both of those will have to be pried from my cold dead hand. :D

As for Kiwis, yes and no. I bought and received one of the new "full panel" (no bolsters) ones SFSW is now making, in black pearl on eBay. Loved it, but there was a crack in one of the scales, so it had to go back to the seller. Am waiting for a replacement, expect it will be at least a month more before I see it.

Hi Paul, congrats on your new fine knives. That Persian is beautiful, thanks for sharing those great pics. As for the Lava... I understand you perfectly. Couldn't be a better choice for the Forum Knife :)

Yes, he uses the name steelarts here and on BladeForums, and goes by his real name on BritishBlades. Here's a link to his website, his email address is on it. He got married a few days after the auction, so he may still be on his honeymoon.
