CRAP!! broken spydies!

and it had to happen to my two favorites too....

first of all, i was at work with my Caly Jr. and i go to sit down and i guess i snagged the clip on something, because when i stood back up i snapped the clip right off. i went to pull my knife out later to open a box and there was just the part of the metal under the 3 screws left. then, on my Vesuvius, the little metal bug fell right out of the scale! i still have the little bug but i can't get it back in there well enough to trust that i'll ever see it again.

i'm wondering is there anything i can do to get a new clip? could spyderco just ship me one or can i send in my vesuvius and get the little bug glued back in? thanks

You can either call or email Warrant and Repair and get a new clip sent out, or send it in. For the bug you may have to send it in.

The weak clip is a problem with the Caly Jr. I don't see much in the way of improving the design since it has to go around the pivot pin. Mine broke within the first two weeks of ownership, and up untill recently had ridden in my pocket sans clip. I have a spare clip for it, but liked it in deep pocket carry.
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

I havent had any problems with the clip, nor with the bug inlay (my girlfriend has a Cento III), but I have almost always problems with clip screws.
Whether the are not well fastened, because the clip is able to move, or I strip their heads every time.

I also carry my Caly Jr deep in pocket without clip. I find that not all spydies "feel" better without clips, but the Caly Jr and the Captain are two that I always carry clipless. The Jess Horn and the Military, as examples, do not feel right to me without their clips.

Just send in the Vesuvius and ask W&R to send you a new clip, that way you can use your Caly while the Vesuvius is in repair.
Ask me where I got my awesome SUPERHAWK!

More like Mid-Cal now
