Native vs Caly3?

#1

Post by sprokker »

I EDC a Native, but I'd prefer a knife with liners and "classier" handle material. I just now learned of the Caly3 (yes I'm a bit slow), and it looks very promising.

One of the things I love about the Native is that it's very unobtrusive in the pocket. It's about .6" thick at the thickest spot, about 1.4" wide closed, and about 4" long.

Does anyone know how the Caly3 compares in size, when closed and open? Side-by-side pics would be great, but I'm guessing they might be hard to come by for another month or two.

Well the Caly 3 is not yet available, but since it's suppose to be identical to the UK Penknife except for the addition of a lock and 1/16" of blade length, perhaps this will give you a fair idea of how they will compare. FWIW, there does not seem to be any mention of liners in the catalog description of the Caly 3. I'm not a fan of G-10, so it's one of the upcoming models that does not excite me. Because of that I have not been following all the threads on it, so perhaps I missed something posted on one of the forums. If that is the case, then the shot showing the relative thickness of the three knives will obviously be off by a fair amount.

Thanks Deacon! Those pics are great.

Anyone know the low-down on the liner issue? ... And the release-date issue? :D
