Not my cup of tea. It lacks a 50/50 choil, a feature I find too useful to be enthusiastic about a knife that lacks it. Even though I don't use clips, the lack of provision for left hand clip mounting on an otherwise totally ambi knife a strike against it. The normal audience for them obviously prefers all stainless handles and a hollow ground blade with a swedge grind, but I prefer full flat grinds, no swedge grind, and, on a knife with much over a 3" blade, something lighter in the way of a handle. I also prefer a 14mm thumb hole and traction grooves on the ramp. Then there's the "billboard" size model name on the blade. Funny thing is, I could live with the old style serif font Police Model lettering, but the styles since then just do not appeal. Finally, and perhaps most importantly really, I find it too long when closed for comfortable loose pocket carry.

However, the knife is Spyderco's most long lived models and has survived with fewer visible design changes than any of the other perrenial favorites. So it obviously serves the needs of those who do like it very well.

I like it, but it is too big for me.

I only have one, a GIN-1 SS PE. I like the knife for IWB carry, very flat and smooth so it doesn't snag either getting it out or putting it away. The ride height is perfect for me - high enough to get a grip on, low enough not to gouge me. I like the swedge grind, although I would prefer a full flat grind. The only part I don't like is the last quarter inch of the blade. You know the part I'm talking about, it's the part that makes it illegal to carry here (4" limit for folding knife blades in Kansas)

I really like the long serrated blade of my Police

It would be a perfect knife when the handles were G10 and no lettering on the blade ;)

I like it. It was my first spyder. Simple, elegant design. Minimalist. I don't mind the ss handle and the lettering on the blade. I like the swedge grind and the long slim profile of the blade. I would LOVE to see a new police with peel ply CF though. :p

The Police is one of my favorite Spyderco's and it has seen more pocket time than any other knife I've owned. There are some things I'd like to see changed about it but even the way it is now I really like it. I especially like how thin it is and how easliy it goes unnoticed clipped to my pocket. I really like the blade shape (PE model) and the handle shape and SS is my favorite handle material for feel, looks, and strength. I detest the lettering on the blade so I removed it off of mine but I wish they would start making them without the lettering b/c it takes awhile to remove. I would probably own a lot more if the police lettering wasn't on there. The only things I'd like to see added to it is a full flat grind, 14mm opening hole, 50/50 choil, and 4-way clip positioning. I don't really care to see other handle materials on it like peel ply CF or G-10 but I wouldn't be against it as long as they kept offering the SS handle version.

I never cared for it till I ran across an Trufram coated Aluminum one in a pawn shop a few months back, I did lay down the cash and brought it home with me..... Don't carry it, but I do like the weight and balance of this variant....

SO if I were to answer the POL... NO don't care for the Police in general....

Hmm.. Well, I voted that I like it, even though I don't have one. I like SS handled models, and G10 or Ti, of course!- but the main reason I don't have one is that the dang thing is so BIG! How they got so much edge in that model is amazing, and it's been around so long for good reason. Sooner or later, I'll get me one, but it won't see much pocket time. :(

I would have rather voted that I "can dig it, but don't have it." :p

To answer the poll question: I don't like it, been trying to get rid of it since I got it. Like others in this thread it's too big especially for a SS handle. To me in a SD situation with sweaty hands it would almost be like grasping an ice-cycle. After I got it I thought that it would be a pretty good knife for me if it was about 1/3 smaller, come to find out, they did do that in the rookie. Put a CF handle on a rookie sized version and I'm in, almost like growed up Jess Horn.

I votd yes , only have the lefty CF . Rarely carry due to low number ,but it is a great knife to me . Hope to see an upgrade like the ss Endua so it will be ambi friendly in future . Old model lefty models are very hard to find . Would like to see alittle fatter handle , but that is just me being picky .

How could I not vote "Yes" for my very first Spyderco ever? It's the one that started it all for me, after a couple of months buying cheap Chinese knives off eBay, looking for the ultimate all-stainless steel knife. I held off on this one knife that I saw on eBay that completely fit my mental image of what I was looking for because of the price (around $90, this was back in 2000). When I finally pulled the trigger and bought it, I stopped looking for knives, since I had found exactly what I was looking for.

I particularly like the thinness of the model, and how much blade was packed into the handle. I also like the weight of the knife -- it feels solid and substantial in my hand.

Now, after buying 10 additional Spyderco knives (plus a couple non-Spydercos), I do find it a bit big for EDC duty (though I still include it in the rotation). Also, because of the size and weight, I find the SS to not offer the best grip. I can see how a G-10 version would be ideal -- lighter and grippier.

I still like the Police model. If nothing else, it is one of the more intimidating knives in Spyderco's lineup -- I can see why it's called "Police." If someone flashed one of these at me, I'd be off running!

I doubt I'll ever own one...don't really like the lines. I hope that a few of these bad boys have saved some of our men and women in law enforcement...

It's just too big for me to EDC...but I could sure see one clipped inside a motorcycle cops boot!

I am absolutely enamored with the Police Model- namely with CF handles and LH set up. I love how thin a package it is with serious blade length- as much as blade as can be packed into the handle, per Spyderco... As part of my EDC/ SD rig, I always carry one IWB, where it absolutely disappears. There are very few other knives, Spyderco or otherwise, that have as much cutting power, that can be carried as unnoticeably (I'm sure a point of contention among all of us)! It just "looks beautiful" also!

The Police Knife in its mutiple factory variations is likely one of the most collectible Spydercos out there. It is certainly one of my favorites and a great EDC. If you haven't owned or carried one, try it, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.!!

Got a early G-10, great design.
It's not just a knife, it is a multitool with very specific means.

The Police Model is the flagship of the Spyderco line, a true classic! Lot's of history in this one.
I like the "POLICE" on the blade, it shows you may be one of the good guy's.
I trust one on duty quite often, mostly the aluminum or G10 version. As for the size, when you need a big knife, you need a big knife!
You guy's can have all the Toads, Crickets and Mice, but when things get serious, you will wish you had a Police.
Of course I voted for it.
