Stocking up on Swicks

#1

Post by blair »

I got a Swick a couple of months ago and liked it so much that I just bought a couple more in case I brake/lose mine. It really is a sweet little Knife, probably the best backup out there IMO. I hope Spyderco puts it into production, as it would be tragic if there were no more. :(

Just received my Swick a few days ago. I have fairly small hands but the Swick's ergos are just right. The blade is a nice hassle-free size/shape, and the blade is razor-sharp (as expected from :spyder: ). I'm going to be using this little gem extensively around the house. It might also see use on my upcoming backpack in the Sierras....

The only real drawback for me is the bead-blast finish. It's my understanding that this can be detrimental to corrosion-resistance: a particularly unfortunate occurence in a neck knife. Luckily, this problem is easily addressed through the use of Tuf-Cloth.

Without intending to knock other knife companies, I would agree with you that Spyderco knives have first rate workmanship and finish. [Note that my experience is limited to production knives. ]

My only lament is that the finish type is less than optimal for a dedicated neck knife. I've heard good things about S30V's corrosion resistance though, so maybe I'm jumping at shadows here. Either way, the Swick is a superb little knife.

Congrats on your multiples! Talk about a misunderstood and unjustly ignored model.

Don't worry about the finish of the SWICK. It'll hold up to being 90 degree 100% humidity weather, worn next to the skin of a guy who can't handle hot humid weather, and sweats like crazy.

It's summertime in MD, and still no sign of rust on my SWICK. ;)

I've gotta pick one up one of these days, before it's too late!

It's got two things I love: S30v, and a Wharnie blade.
