Police Sniper Drawing

#1

Post by Jimd »

Drew this up for a friend who's a police sniper. This sniper is clad in a ghillie suit, armed with a Barrett .50 caliber semi-auto sniper rifle.

Hi Jim, I like the perceived action this pose generates. Constructive criticism: the bipod doesn't look right, nor the tip of the muzzle brake does not appear to line up properly with the body of the barrel.

Thanks, guys!
The bipod was at an odd angle, and was very difficult to portray. As for the muzzle brake....ah, heck, back to the drawing board! :D

:) I can't claim to have ever seen a Barrett bipod from that angle, but it just looked a bit off.

I sure was hesitant to mention what I did, but renderings do require perfection and that drawing board is the only place to find it. ;)

Keep up the good work Knife Bro, I look forward to your next.

Jimd,
Speaking from experience I think this is a superb rendition. When you are looking at the Barrett from any angle, that is in front of the barrel, it is very impressive. If you did these for a living (and you may) I would be on the list to buy one. PM me at pcsheriff1@hotmail.com and we'll talk more. Stay safe.

Barrett .50 as a "police sniper rifle"? IIRC only federal law enforcement agencies use .50 caliber countersniper rifle's?

:p

My friend in Florida, whom I drew this for, is a police sniper. His department has a rifle just like the one in my drawing. It's rare to see a police agency with them, but there are a couple out there.

I know two guys who are in the Secret Service, and they told me the Barrett .50 is also in their inventory. Then again, it would be easier to name the weapons they don't have in their inventory! :D
