Interesting blade shape relationship between Cold Steel and Spyderco models.

When I first discovered knives, I really bought and enjoyed many Cold Steel knives. The other day, I held up my 4 inch Nogales clip blade next to my Matriarch. SUPRISE! guess what I found???

Putting them edge to edge - cutting edge to cutting edge and they are almost a PERFECT match! The blade shapes could almost be cut from the same item.. cutting edge shape opposites ying and yang....hmmmmmmmm....check it out...

how did this coincidene take place?? I think the Matriarch and Civilian came first??

Anyone have any ideas on this??

.....mmmhh, you hit a sore topic there and, uhmm, yes there are some ideas on this.....Let's just say, that sometimes you wish that all companies in the business would have the same integrity that Spyderco has....

They have their own version of Civilian too (I think it's called the Talon). It Another strange coincidence, I presume (considering the Civilian appeared a few good years before)

I believe that Cold Steel already talked to Spyderco regarding The Talon.

The funny thing is that this Talon doesn't look half as good as the Civilian and is a lot more expensive.

And the Civie is the real thing.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery  . You'll probably find many similarities between other companies and Spyderco. The opening hole and pockt clip, for example.

it seems like in the realm of pocket knives Spyderco is the source of alot of inspiration in the knife market. i also find Spydies to be amazingly cheap for what they are. many companies sell knives of similar quality (and alot of the time lesser quality) for more. even the most expensive of Spyderco's blades are affordable to anyone but the homeless (or the collector who buy 10 knives a month ;) ).

I really doubt that this is anything more than an amusing coincidence. There is nothing at all similar about the knives.

No, but if I was still working in the prison, I'd be sorely tempted to con the cons into making me one. :D Was looking up info on the bird a while back, and found that picture on a NZ website. Was hoping they sold smaller versions of it, since they were raising money for Kiwi protection, but had no luck finding one.
