G-10 Standard with pics

#1

Post by knightrider »

So I happened upon a great deal for a G-10 Standard. What a great knife with good texture and feel. I didn't know what to expect except that it would be similar to a beefy Delica. It is so heavy duty with a very strong lock. Very high quality. It has a slightly shorter and blunter blade shape that I really enjoy. The G-10 on it feels a lot different than the Dodo or Para G-10. It has a much softer smoother feel to the texture which is very different looking as well.

I think I'm going to carry it, it has a great feel, I'm very happy with it. :)

ATS-55 is similar to VG-10 right? If not, what can I expect from this steel, my searches haven't given me enough info.

Here are some pics I took of it.

CONGRATS!
I'd love to find one of those. From what I understand ATS-55 is very similar to VG-10 as both have that MAGIC ingredient...Cobalt ;)

It's a great little knife. I used to have 2 of them, but I lost one and both of the clips. :(

I actually prefer it over the Delica.

Ahh, the Standard. Great knife with a not so great name. I've got 3. I bought my first one , a serrated model, on the Bay not knowing what to expect. When it arrived I was blown away as it seemed so perfect in size, heft, etc. I carried it everywhere as a heavy duty little knife and got another as a back up because the price was so right. Then, when I saw a plain edge version for sale, I was all over it. Now, they remain favorites and I'm likely to grab one when I know that I'll "really" be needing a knife. For anyone who thinks a FRN Delica is a little too flimsy and a SS Delica is a little too heavy, the Standard is just the ticket.

I can't understand why these didn't really take off and become a best seller. Maybe the name?

Congratulation! Normaly a Standard is not easy to find in nowa days. Do you see, that the blade thickness is a little bit stronger than the one of the Delica? I own a Standard in G-10 and a Stainless one (both serrated) and I think they are great :spyder: knifes (better than their name  )

The G-10 Standard is a very well made knife. Am not a fan of G-10 myself, but do find the feel of that used on the Japanese :spyder: s of that era to be the best.
