Bram or other,
In your perspective, please explain to me in which method would be best to deploy and use my gunting after I'm either rushed or tackled. As many of us know, most real altercations end up on the ground, and with my gunting in its break away holster how should I practice the technique to prevent me getting my a$$ handed to me.The best I can come up with is a painful press with the ramp on a nerve point, but there's no room or time to strike,Or getting my Gunting into action.I'm an avid ground fighter/wrestler,but would much rather use my "mechanical advantage"to end it without a ground and pound style fight. What's the best method for this.
And by the way, thank you for making this forum possible.
First of many questions(Ground attack)
Whosyour: Wel I don't know if we mostly end up on the ground...ROFL...But thats not an important point..the point is you want to know WHAT IF//WHEN???I guess that depends on WHEN you start to engage the GUNTING...i.e. at what stage of the takedown or physical engagement with your opponent..
Don't picture the GUNTING as a NEW thing, a new element..What would you do NORMALLY in that circumstance? Picture it and then put the GUNTING into your hand...see it..
Then get your partner and @ each stage pull out the GUNTINg and see where it allows you to enhance your grappling, grabbing or deflection WITHIN the way you already apply your defensive counters.
Personally upon being rushed if its not clear BEFORE i get wrapped up, I push or strike into the nearest body part...below the jaw works with your fingers and better with a GUNTING..
Grab an ear with the horns..
Hit an elbow with the ramp...
Use it to enchance your reversals...
Its got to be conceptual..not technique driven..find where it fits into your personal usage...
We'll have a video soon on Grappling with he GUNTING System...
drive it into tbreast bone..rub a Golgi tendon...grab a biceps....
Its a starting point!!!!

whosyour,
I love to grapple as well, but I definitely wouldn't want to try to take a Guntaholic to the ground. If you can clear kydex the BG is going to lose fast.
While training, allow yourself to be put into a really vulnerable position before drawing the drone (RED). A choke release would take maybe 1/10th of a second. A joint lock reversal probably less. Practice training to step off the line of attack and drawing the "G" like you would train with a firearm.
Of course you could often have the closed "G" in hand if you saw trouble coming. Something that is less easily done with a Glock.
Tomahawk or utilize other strikes to discourage the BG closing the gap. If you end up on the ground you will have a definite advantage. All with the Drone.
If you use the Live (black) "G" on the street then you always have the option of some bio-mech cutting if it starts to get really ugly. If the BG's buddy tries to stomp your head for example.
Play with a drone (red) or an aluminum trainer by Edges2 or Brennan's Blades with your grappling buddies and you'll see what I mean. My friend, Logan, is a Sambo player and loves the Gunting.
Hope this helps,
Steve Shinde

Thank you for the heads up Bram & SKS.Oh by the way put me down for a CRIMPT when they get going.I put theory into method last night.I simulated the rush from behind first as a surprise attack with my partner. My best response came from driving the ramp into the closest arm and then to a thumb lock on the ground, where I was able to straighten his arm, turn over, reverse, and sink in a heavy arm bar with my legs while he was still standing do to shear pain and rolled with me,but at a moderate speed and level of course. There by removing his leverage to my advantage, from there I rolled his wrist into a chicken wing after releasing the arm bar.
Next we tried the front tackle, this is a fools way to fight, especially if you drop your head, with the gunting, you'll be the one getting dropped. The basic tomahawk with the ramp or butt to the top or side of the skull is going to be the fastest response and if it continues on the ground I tested every point I could reach, with the pressing action, and if they at that point cover up,then you, even though you are on your back, have the advantage to grab whatever it takes it was a success (was there ever a doubt).Good advice,Thank You
