New to forum/...who is sal....???
I am new to the spyderco forum and would just like to say hi. I am and have been pretty much a BENCHMADE man , although I do own a couple of Spyderco's. I run boats in the Gulf of Mexico in the summer months. I own one Spyderco, a Rescue model w/ orange handles; that will never-THAT IS NEVER,be replaced by any other brand or model. It has saved my 'bacon' as well as others on more than one ocassion. I will not go on the water w/out it in my right pocket, period. So much for the introduction, now for the question: Who is Sal?
I mean no disrespect by this question. I read between the lines and it seems you are a Spyderco 'suit' so to speak. If this is correct or if you are associated w/ Spyderco in any way, I think it is amazing and great. Just showing interest in people who show interest in your product says volumes to me. My hat is off to you. It will/already has caused my interest in Spyderco to grow tremendously.
Sincerely,
alf

Who is Sal you ask?
Sal is the Master. He is the Chief, El Jefe, Our Guru.
He is the one who saved us from carrying our knives in the bottom of our pockets. He is Father Spyderco. Without Sal, we would not have poket clips or the hole in the blade.
Without Sal, we would not have serrated pocket knives. Without Sal, you would still be opening your knife with 2 hands.

Thank's John, you answered my question totally. I appreciate it.
I can honestly say I am very impressed that the main man is involved in his company's forum. That is how it should be but is very rarely how it is! My interest in Spyderco is growing for that very reason!(in addition to the fact that I know they are good knives)
Thank you Sal,
alf

Sal I salute your dedication to the company and products you have created. If there were more people in business like you.... the world would be a better place.
Thx for letting us voice our opinions because of this forum I purchased a spydie if the forum wasnt available I probably would have never bought one.
Thx again.

Yeah, good on ya Sal, when I first got here I also wondered who Sal was, since it seemed from his replies like he worked for spyderco, I thought "Oh nice, they got some1 to speak to us about probs", but when I saw it was the main man himself I was most shocked, I love the idea, keeping in touch with the people who support you, where other good brands (like Gerber) dont give nearly the same service and take ages to get back to you.
Sal well done, this is one of the major reasons Ive been purchasing your blades as opposed to Gerber.
Go Well

While I'm sure Sal has a suit ><g> I think of him more like this photo. (taken by someone else during a tour of the factory just before the Bladeforum Blue Native came out)
I met him at the factory 1 1/2 yrs ago and found him down-to-earth, easy to talk to and truely interested in his customers' opinions and committed to filling our needs. A philosophical background is evident in his speech and his view to the future results of our present actions.
Ask him to "Whip it out" if you meet him. The fastest draw of a Military I've ever seen.

Hi Alf. Welcome to the Spyderco forum.
thanx for the kind words guys.
The ELU IS the customer, true?
The forum is valuable for me as well.
BTW Alf, It's ok to like Benchmade. They make a good knife. And often very sexy in appearance.
Most of our knives are more like your Rescue model. Tough, reliable consistant high performance. I don't think we'll ever win contests on looks.
Thanx for participating in the forum. This is a learning place.
