Great Friends!

#1

Post by Jimd »

Every now and then, I'm reminded that I have very good friends, particularly in this forum.

Today, I received a gift in the mail from someone here (his wife's work, actually) that just blew me away. A very, very wonderful, generous gesture that obviously took a lot of time to complete.

I want to thank this man and his wife (you know who you are). I'd like to name them, but I'm not sure he'd like that, being rather modest as he is. Sir, you and your wife are truly good people. And this forum is a truly good place.

Not only is this a beautiful piece of art in its own right, but the style in which it was done is such an inspiration, that I believe I'll pursue artwork in this particular medium in the future!
God bless!!

The guilty parties are Hannibal Lechter and his wife Clarice!
Clarice seems to have quite the talent for etching glass. She took my sabertooth drawing and etched it into glass with extremely pleasing results! I was quite flattered that her very first attempt at this form of artwork was one of my pieces!

It turned out beautifully! So much so that, as I've already told Clarice, she's inspired me to try learning this beautiful art form! Again, I thank Hannibal and Clarice for their incredible generosity. They're truly good folks!

Lady Lecter's name is Clarice?

Now that is irony. ;)

That's Hannibal for you, always a great guy. :D

It was your artwork that inspired her to begin etching complete pictures, my friend. The gift was a expression of thanks for your inspiration!

We are both so glad you enjoyed it!

My dear friend, as you said in the email, it's come full circle! Your wife was inspired by me, and now I'm inspired by her. Great stuff! :)

To say I'm "enjoying" this gift is quite an understatement. I'm really psyched about it, and still taken aback at the fact that people I've never met in person are so gracious and generous.

This brings to mind another recent thread that asks how people manage to keep their faith in today's day and age. Well...Hannibal and Clarise are perfect examples of that (along with many others here!). The longer I hang out here (and a few very, very selected selected other places online), the more my faith in people is being restored. When I see people commit and act of unsolicited kindness like this, it does my heart so much good.

Every day on the news (I call the news "The Body Count" because that's about all it is. That, and weather), we see what horrible things people do to each other. Things like this help restore everyone's faith in humanity, and that's a valuable thing!

Thanks, Doc. From the bottom of my heart! And if I ever get a digital camera, pics of your wife's wonderful work will be plastered all over the place in here! :D
