I recently bought a Spyderco Shabaria from One Stop Knife Shop (within the last five days), and after one day of use, the clip broke off at the screws with minimal resistance. Compared to my other Spyderco's, this clip feels somewhat flimsy. Has anyone had the same experience? Is the clip covered under warranty, and if not, where can I get a new one ASAP?
Hi fool. You did not mention if you had the original version or the updated one. I haven't seen the updated Shabaria yet but look forward to that day. I like the design but may need to inspect the knife more closely before I buy.
Anyway, could you clarify your problem? Did the metal clip break? or did the clip break off from the handle material (screws/threads stripped)? (Sounds like your problem is the former but I just wanted to make sure I got it right).
Wow, that is unusual. I thought the metal clips were semi-bomb proof. You should take KenN's advice and e-mail Spyderco for a replacement clip if no one from the company responds to your post by today.
Btw, sometimes I too wonder if the black clips (with the gold spyder) on the collaboration models are "softer" than the clips on regular (non-collaboration) Spyderco knives.
Hi Fool. Welcome to the Spyderco forum. sorry for your problem. We'd like to see the broken clip if possible, that's an unusual break from our experience.
Sorry it took me so long to get back - can't get here during work hours - the new gig won't let me access through their firewall.
The clip on mine also snapped off in the same spot(right before the screws).Caught it on a seatbelt getting out of a car.Just haven't gotten around to getting a new one yet. It's still one of my favorite spydies.
My Shabaria has been rock-solid reliable since I received it as a gift in December; the clip is fine, it's stood up to hard use (including butchering cottontail rabbits) and constantly clipped in my pocket.
