Tight SPOT sheath?

#1

Post by Mox »

I just got my SPOT VG-10 Micarta from Spyderco and I've got a question:

The sheath is *really* tight. So tight that I can't unsheath it with one hand. I have to hold the sheath in one had while pulling with the other.

Is this normal? Will it loosen up with time?

Hiya Mox, the neck sheath is tight, but does loosen somewhat with time (not much though). While grasping the knife with the pointer finger in the natural loop hole and firmly grasping the remaining handle with remaining fingers, place thumb on kydex corner of sheath that is directly above the thumb grooves on top of handle. While pulling firmly down with hand, push against the kydex corner...it should pop off. :spyder:
Follow the mushin, but pay it no heed.

Thanks for the reply. I *can* get it off while also using my thumb, but man is it hard!

It won't ever come out of the sheath on accident, that's for sure.

I think I like the Hideaway better than the SPOT.

I live near Seattle, WA. I'm on some other forums, but not always as Mox. My other username is Stieg.
