Carbon Fiber vs G-10 can't decide

What handle material would you guys recommend for a Civilian. I have a couple G10 handled knives and like em alot. Was wondering how Carbon fiber handles feel and am looking for something differnt(hence the interest in the CF) Would I be disappointed if I got a CF handled Civie.

Hi FL_fisher.
Cf is really beautiful but the grip is not optimal. G10 is light, strong, corrosion and shock resistant ...and the grip is greatly famous even when wet it stick in your hand but it is not too abrasive.your civie will be in a collection or in your pocket(in the last case i will opt for G10)

I have both, and each has it's advantages.

The carbon fiber is beatiful and is great for collections, but the material doesn't have the most secure grip.

For carry, I would recommend the G-10 scales. The grip is lightweight and will not slip in your hands.

I personally observed a Civilian "in action" and I'd like to point out this is a serious knife. If you use it, you will be involved with the law. At best, this is a crap shoot.

Remember, Spyderco has a "white hat" policy on this blade.

As I understand it, Spyderco prefers that knives like the Civilian and the Matriarch do not fall into the hands of the "bad guys" (or "black hats&quot<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>. The "S" shape of the hook is designed for Slicing and Dicing. Its intended use was as a backup weapon for law enforcement personnel. These LEOs are the "good guys" (or "white hats" - In movies, the good guys wear white hats).

You will notice that Spyderco does not even show pictures of the Civilian or Matriarch. Further, using the Civilian as a tool (rather than a weapon) voids their warranty.

One way or the other, you pay for your tools!
