I've been watching a National Geographic Explorer called, Surviving Maximum Security. To echo Richard Pryor, "Thank God for prisons!" And Thank God for those of you who work in them and do your best. You perform an amazing service for all of us.

Mahalo EarthDog and raven,

Thank you for those kind words. Believe me, "Thank you" is a word we hear more from the incarcerated than the admin!

God bless and thanks again.

Great thread. These guys stand on the wall for us every day, and from reading some of thier posts the inmates are only one of the many sources of stress they face.

Thanks.

I add my gratitude as well. You can say about your lives what few men can, the world would be a far worse place in your absence.

Nice thread.

People take COs for granted daily. LEOs only deal with putting them away.. COs have to contain them.. Much harder...

I truely thank you for all your hard work... Next time some one gets out of line give them a shot in the ribs with your night stick for me. ;)

Thank you.

They are perhaps the most important and underappreciated part of the CJ system.

There aren't many who could do that job and not many in that category who would.

Imagine being locked away with all those who make headlines for heinous crimes and while outnumbered to boot. A lot of them (convicts) feel they don't have anything to loose anyway... so why not attack a CO? If you're not constantly on guard something bad will happen to you. This is why some of the members vent here. Imagine being continually concerned for your saftey for an entire shift, not able to relax for even a minute, and then be expected to return to a "normal" state of mind as upon clocking out. That is impossible. When they report to work their mindset is probably the same as soldiers and marines at war. Stress is a constant reality.

We owe DW and JIMD a continual great big pat on the back.

Aloha sgt.,

Man ya hit it dead on my friend! Not only do we have to be concerned for our own personal safety, but for the safety of other staff, and yes, inmates as well. Please everyone, do not forget SimonG! He is a ranking CO after all! ]kidding![/size]

I have to add my appreciation to Daywalker and the others who work in what they themselves call ****. It's a job that I can't imagine doing day in and day out, and one that I certainly give them credit for doing. It takes a very special person to do it. Thanks to you all, and God bless you! :)

Sarge, I want to thank you for doing the job you do, as well! Stay safe!

As often regarded as the "forgotten" arm of the Criminal Justice System, I would also like to express my appreciation at the thanks and good wishes offered here.

Having just safely got home from 14 hours in "****", where I was caused more trouble by admin, than I was the prisoners, it's heartening to know that it all does not go completely un-noticed.

Yes, we see much scum and hate. On top of that, we have to put up with the inmates, as well! :p :D

Thanks for the kudos, my friend!
