Spyderco Homemaker handle

Post by redline »

Does the Spyderco Homemaker chefs knife have a full tang handle?
Does anyone have pictures of the handle? The only pic I've managed to find is the stock one in the catalog.
Thanks.

Can't help with pics just now. Left my digicam at work. The Homemaker has approx 3/4 tang with two rivets. This makes it possible to have a one-piece handle instead of slabs. Handle looks like some kind of stabilized wood, sort of like a laminate. Hope that helps. I'll try to remember to post a pic tomorrow.

The handle would be Pakkawood, Dymondwood, Laserwood, or suchlike, etc.... a laminated phenolic resin wood product. Very durable, Ii use it a lot :)

Anyone care to post some comments on the Homemaker in daily use? How does it compare to the Santoku? I've been thinking 'bout this one every since Gail showed me one in the outlet store, but alas my mind was clouded by the search for a Ti ATR at the time. I got one of those now, so....

Thanks!
You've answered my question, I just wish it had a full tang as I love to change handle scales for different materials, with my limited skils I can only deal with full tangs.
Shame, it looks a nice knife apart from that.
