UK Spyderco Knife Knuts
As you will probably have seen from previous posts, I'm what might be called a Newbie to Spyderco at the moment. To this effect I am looking for any info I can get my hands on. Being from the UK, where knives are looked at a little differently by most people <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> it can be hard to track down information. So, this is a request to any other Spyderco Knuts out there from the UK; any information you may have on good retailers/suppliers would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have occasionally come across Spydercos while wandering the streets of London but they have invariably been expensive.
The one ray of hope you might say is an outfit called Ray's Direct based in Milton Keynes, 08700 729734. I have purchased a Sharpmaker from them and they were most helpful and gave me a Spyderco catalog. They seem to have a good range and their prices were basically the Spyderco list price converted to pounds including postage.
Snow and Rock stores carry a small range of Spydercos, Endura, Delicia, Ladybug, Rescue and Dyads if you want to feel some.

I drool over the Syderco catalogue only to find that no - one can supply the particular model I want. I obtained my Calypso Jnr Ltwt from Heinnie Haynes via the phone. They do have a website, but do not carry the whole range and tend to be a bit slow with new models. I,m from Kent and to be honest I cannot find anywher locally I can go aactually handle the knives - the most important aspect of buying in my book. If you find anywhere please let me know. BTW doesn't it make you sick seeing the price they pay in the USA compared to what we pay!!!

You got that right about the prices though...jeez, we certainly do get a bit of a rough deal overhere, so far I have usually ended up paying in pounds what the guys over there pay in dollars ! <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> As Drew posted earlier in this string Snow and Rock stores do stock a small range of Spydies (I confirmed this over the phone - hope to go check in person today) so as least you can get your hands on them there.
I've dealt with Heinnies a couple of times and had excellent service, the good thing is that they stock things that are now deleted such as the Pegasus and Navigator models.
As you said it's good to hear that there are other Spydie fans on this little rock of ours that we call the UK !
If I do get anymore info I'll be sure to post it.

I don't even want to touch my Calypso Jnt Ltwt blade as the VG10 out of the box was and still is the sharpest blade I have ever used! Is it the Sharpmaker 204 and how much did you pay? BTW I have never heard of Snow and Rock stores - are they a local outlet?

Sorry there buddy, but you may have got slightly mixed up, it wasn't me that posted about the Sharpmaker (still gotta get me one of those), but I do know how you feel about sharpening, it definately is a practiced art form, and I'm still way down on the bottom rungs of the ladder <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
Snow and Rock are fairly national I think, the best thing to do is to check out their site http://www.snowandrock.com, I think they have a store locator on there. I took a walk over there at lunch time and they had a Dyad Jnr, an Endura SS and a Rescue (black) but I was very well behaved and didn't spend any money ! The prices were on the normal to expensive side. They did tell me that their stock was a little low at the moment, but they do get regular deliveries and that they can get models in to order usually within a few days, so might be worth keeping in mind.

The Sharpmaker is great the video that comes with it is really well done and you get to have a look at Sal. I have a mica Calypso JR. which I use every day that I keep razor sharp no problems.
