at the beginning I was a little hesitant about Spyderco making slipjoints, but the UK penknife is really something. I really don't like the slipjoints like SAKs or Laguiole, the detent is too strong during the whole opening and when it's open you can always fear an accident closing.
On the UK PK there is 2 steps, the first when half opened and the other when fully opened and it's changing everything!

As far as I know they are gone for now. Maybe sprint runs later

If I remember right (if I'm not someone please correct me) the DK Penknife is replacing the UK Penknife.

The Penknife UK, and Penknife DK, are both sprint runs to test the market. They aren't in regular production. 500 of the former were made, and I don't know what is planned for the latter.

Spyderco is working on a series of smaller slipjoints with 3 different blade styles and a variety of handle materials. Designed for international distribution.

Does that mean if someone in the U.S. wants one they can't get one

Only locking models for me, sorry.

I may buy one for curiosity's sake as a collectable but I wouldn't carry a non-locking knife.

You'll have to order it from the UK.

I believe that "international" includes domestic distribution in the US and Canada.

The UK penknife may not have a lock but it is one very fine folder. Basic, Calypso ergonomics with finer materials, G-10 and SV30, plus a wir clip that nearly makes clip carry undetectable. This American gives it a strong thumbs up.

I would agree that a lock it would make it better but it is still a great knife.

Hopefully by resurecting the topic I could get some advice on where to start looking for a Slipjoint Spyderco knife.

Not for me, I love lock-backs, that is just one reason why I buy spydies. I do want to see the UK penknife in a lock-back model.

The UK Penknife and the DK Penknife are what you'd be looking for. They're all sold out, and rare, so be ready to pay a pretty penny for 'em. eBay and BladeForums are the two best places to find rare stuff IMO.

Hi Kermit,
You can still find Spyderco Prides on eBay for as little as $20.
It's a nice little knife, mine gets carried more than my UK Penknife, it's definitely not as secure open, although your forefinger sits in the choil acting as a backup lock!
Hopefully there will be a couple of new models along soon :D
