I find myself at a quandary

I am set on getting a new :spyder: , unfortunately, I do not know which to buy!!

I've narrowed it down to either the scorpius or the native.

I figure this is a good place to ask this question, since many of you have probably owned both, or at least handled both, which do you all prefer? They both fit my needs as far as size, shape, and utility... I just want to know which feels better.

:spyder: Better is pretty subjective but the scorpius certianly feels slicker. :spyder:

i own both the scorpius and all 3 versions of the native. I love them all, but the scorpius is fast becoming one of my all time favorite spydercos. It is a great utility cutter, as well as an SD carry. It can be doubled up as an impact tool which is a cool feature, and it looks great. Honestly i think you would be happy w/ either one, and it boils down to what one is more to your liking. FRN or SS... S30V or VG10?

I have never handled a Scorpius but I do have a Native. I love the knife. I think it is the Glock of the knife world. It has great steel, is light and feels very good in my hand. Someday I will have another one!

To me, it's the Native III that.... "feels" the best!

I have both
The Native has a thicker & wider blade, the handle is also thicker, so it's a lil bulkier to carry, but has LH/RH tip up carry options, more of a utility type
The Scorpius is thinner, but has more weight to it, its more surgical, precise,
has more curve/belly to it, only has tip up/down carry option, you have more grip options, fit & finish is better, then theres the Scorpions tail, its stinger, it aids in your draw, you hook it w/ your middle finger to aid in pulling it out, also you can use the stinger for impact in SD situation, w/ some training you could use it for SD w/o ever opening it,
the Native you can pick it up & use it right away
the Scorpius, you have to spend the time to get to really know it
T showed them both to my Kali instructor, he looked at the Native for a sec & passed it on to the senior students, I didnt think he was ever gonna give me my Scorpius back lol, he liked it so much
They're both fine knives, so its a win/win situation, but
If my a$$ is on the line, I'm grabbing my Scorpius !

Hello Jordan,

Everything said so far I agree with...your choice is pretty subjective as what I like is certainly not what the next likes...much like shoes. You would be best off to try and handle each...open it, close it, try with both hands. Consider how you would carry, left front, right front, right back left back, with or without clip etc. Which one fits that role. What will you use knife for? If you expect to use it a lot for work then many prefer the Native as "less tiring for the hand'. If you plan to carry daily but expect little use, the Scorpius might work better since it is thinner in pocket...however it is heavier than most natives so it depends on where you pocket and what clothes you wear. Jeans weight is usually not a consideration...dressier/loose clothes would make a difference.

Hope that helps you to think basically what you will use it for and pick the best for that role.

Of course you could just go on looks and pick the one that looks best as either will work great for EDC.

;)
Follow the mushin, but pay it no heed.

Preciate all the responses, I thought about it today at work... and along with all of your welcome advice, I think I am going to opt for the scorpius. Of course, I'm sure before long I will acquire both.

Thanks again

Good choice, you won't regret it. I have the serrated version and it cuts like a demon. Great ergo's. My Scorpius is the knife with the best fit & finish of all my Spyders.
