One thing - Chris Reeve Knives uses solid titanium for their knives, and all they do is change the engraving on the models and immediately people scramble to buy one.

Spyderco is passing up this marketing possibility.
The last I heard, Spyderco was still selling everything they can make, and a year or two behind the demand. I think they can afford to pass up that marketing possibility.

Yeah...I've never understood the comments about the Chief being a pocket sword. Folded up it's basically the same size as an Endura, maybe 2mm longer. No one ever says that about Enduras.
Yeah I would not say pocket sword. It's as long a blade as I'll ever carry (I tend to grab the vintage POLICE model instead, when I'm in the mood). But yeah a 4" blade is not a "sword" by any stretch.

OK, but what is cheaper to do and makes the most out of tooling and manufacturing time?

Reeves model where they change an engraving and ship a "new knife"?

Spyderco's model where they change a current knife's blade steel, G10, and lock or introduce an entirely new knife?

Closed it’s 5/16” longer than the PM2 and around 5/16” shorter than the Military 2
