I was really looking forward to getting this one. Mail arrived - found only junk mail and the tracking shows it’s “out for delivery”
This is really frustrating. It’s happened before - my tax returns were found by a very honest person who drove across town to give it to me after it was delivered to them. Totally different address and name. In past delivery’s I have experienced - No delivery, “blocked access” where there is nothing there, sitting days at depos and then today - officially “out for delivery” but no delivery ….

Indeed, USPS isn't reliable. But UPS isn't what it used to be. I frequently get notification that a package will be delivered on a set date. That day arrives, and I get notification that it's "out for delivery". Sometime after 8pm, I get a note saying it has "been delayed". It usually shows up 1 to 4 days later. In the past year, this has happened with more than half of deliveries to my residence.

Seriously - and their prices keep going up! I remember when the small priority box was $4.50 !
I look forward to seeing what their excuse is for todays non delivery. “Huffing”a bit too much on the rout? Everybody has a boss and I’m sure he is measured by delivery % - so he will cough up some excuse to cya - and the bad service will continue
Here is was I was looking forward to playing with today …
There are complaints with every carrier. I've worked for UPS and Amazon. I read about complaints all of the time.
Our street in Naperville was divided by a park and sometimes US mail that was to be delivered to one side ended up on the other side even though the numbers were nothing alike. Most of the mail found it's way to the proper home. I hope!
US mail delivery was kind of weird in Naperville. The mail could be delivered at any time between 8am and 8pm! I guess the managers do not care at what time they get done with a route as long as it is done.
I never worked for the USPS. I applied but their AI system weeded me out! How complex can the job of a mailman be? How can anyone fail to get employed at the USPS when they have job openings? I don't know but I did it!!!
If there is an award for rejection letters from employers they should give it to me!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, (have AI look that one up, kids,) despite what online retailers do I try to not use the shippers that start with the letter "U."
Last Thursday (2/5) I was waiting for a knife to be delivered by USPS, I had looked at the tracking info several times through the day. It hadn't arrived when I got home for work. Lit the grill and cooked dinner, at 7:30 on the button the mailman pulled up to my box. Now I'm standing at my dining room window watching him, I head out to the box and the mail truck is already several hundred feet down the road.
I open the box and there's only three pieces of mail....that's it! I thought oh well, tracking must be off and it'll be here tomorrow? I go back inside and check the tracking number to see if the date changed? Now only a few minutes have gone by....it said "ATTEMPTED DELIVERLY, NO AUTHORIZED RECIPIENT WAS AVAILABLE!" Remember I was watching this POS, he never attempted to do anything, except get out of there as fast as he could!!
USPS absolutely sucks, I try everything possible to avoid them but sometimes you can't, there's an issue with them 7 or 8 out of 10 times!
I'm not sure I've ever had anything lost by USPS. Maybe we have better postal workers where I live.
Their tracking status has never been amazing, but it does sort of work now.
Super weird behavior here to choose the cheapest shipping option and then complain about it.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but I never choose USPS. However, many small makers, sellers, and stores only offer USPS. When other options are available I always opt for another option.

When it's the only option then people really shouldn't be complaining at all

HA! Well, yeah—it’s either around the USA in 80 days or nothing at all I guess.
For me USPS is either exceptional or absolute garbage and there's barely anything in between. They're either on the nose accurate or you might never get it at all.
I also for some reason seem to get new mail carriers every couple months, seems like high turnover rate.
I had one out for delivery one time (Sliverax) and I watched the guy put mail in my box, so I ran out and there was no knife. I got in my car and ran him down (still in my neighborhood) and said hey I'm expecting a package that's supposed to be delivered today, he looked and sure enough there it was. He said sorry I knocked and nobody answered. I just looked at him and took the package. I dare not argue with these guys for fear of them doing this sort of crap intentionally.
But most of the time they do come through. I've had far less bad experiences than reliable ones.
My experience with USPS has been overwhelmingly positive. They do a great job in my town.
I've had the same people delivering to my home and work for years. They are both dead reliable and you can set your watch by them.
Yes, their rates are going up. Just like everything else. But USPS is still the cheapest option most of the time. And my packages always arrive quickly and on time. Maybe I'm just lucky, I don't know.
Status was update to:
“Delivery Attempt
Held at Post Office, At Customer's request”
As I was home when the driver left my junk mail and as per the “hold” I had to go to the post office.
After waiting (45 minutes ) and finally getting to a supervisor it appears as though the package was sent on the wrong truck - the wrong rout. And now they will try to deliver it to me tomorrow.

I have a package coming to me from MA. Arrived here in TX two days after leaving MA. Good, so far!
Then instead of showing up locally, it turned up in CO. Where it has been for three days now.
Not always CO, but this “in Texas—and gone!” dance has been pretty common for me the last year or so.
I lived in and out of Chicago for around 25 years. Sometimes it took 5 days to get mail from another party that was in Chicago!
