Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
I have been carrying the Dyad Jr off and on for a few weeks. I've enjoyed the versatility of having PE and SE in one package. I've carried it a bit loose in the pocket but mostly have carried in this slip from MKM with the magnetic loop. Its secure and after break in, a perfect size for this knife.
Really happy with this knife. Would be awesome to do a run of its big brother as well.

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
It was the knife I was waiting for the most with the Edgerati. I should have the Edgerati soon but I've been carrying the Dyad Jr for 2 weeks now.
Surprisingly it might replace my workshop knife. It's usually the 4V Goddard LW or a CRK Inkosi. But the serrations are super useful there and the needle tip helps me reach inside wood or micarta for precision work when I need to.
I already had the old version but the PE blade did not last long. SPY27 sharpens pretty much as well as the ATS-55 on the other one and has been holding way better for now

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
We designed a larger Dyad a few years ago. Peter, Roque & I made some prototypes. It has some very unique features. It will probably be expensive to make and therefore a high cost model. The high cost, plus capacity issues put it on a back shelf. I guess we can watch the reaction to the Jr. and decide if we want to try the larger one.

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
Thank you Sal for information relating to the C44 . I respect any decision made , I have both but the prototype seemed like a great upgrade . Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
Hey Sal just for your information gathering, the small size of the junior is the only thing keeping me from buying one, had this been the larger one in SPY27 steel this would be a very different conversation.
I would be posting pictures.
So that may not be a good metric to go by fwiw.

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
I would buy one or two. I enjoy the junior but the larger Dyad in SPY27 would be a dream.sal wrote: ↑Fri Feb 06, 2026 11:16 pmWe designed a larger Dyad a few years ago. Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
I'd be tentatively interested in a full-size FRN Dyad (can even be clipless).

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
Absolutely! Linerless would be my preference, saving weight . The biggest issue would be if a lanyard hole would work with the dual blade design . A stronger PE blade design would also have to come into play . MG2

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
The linered G10 C44 Dyad sprint they did a while back was too big and bulky and heavy compared to the original linerless micarta version (And the blades uncomfortably higher when closed, though I don't know if that was just mine). If the design ever gets resurrected, it should be linerless again, or maybe nested liners.
Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
The most recent design is only a hand made Prototype that Roque made, but it's totally different from the last large version, except that it has 2 blades. Sorry I can't say more. If there is interest, I'll chat with Eric and the Team to see if it's something we may want to try to squeeze in somewhere, Seki would be the first choice, but they're pretty busy.

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
That's great news! very interested!
Does Seike use SPY27 I have alot of different steel but this one is my favorite.
Sure I love my extreme steels but as an all around steel, a practical true edc steel SPY27 is unique and did I mention my favorite?
It keeps surprising me, for example today I am carrying my SPY27 Para3 I did a cut test on some cardboard it shot right through it! I was like woah glad the cutting board is there it got away from me.
Then just for the heck of it gave it five per side on the sharpmaker brown rods and it got even sharper. Heck of a steel Sal.

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
I have both and prefer the original for reasons that you stated . For me simple just worked better and original was also lighter in pocket .
