Notification of Manix 2XL Salt
Notification of Manix 2XL Salt
I keep getting the email notification of the Manix 2XL Salt buy now @ SFO... Go right to do just that and it's still not in stock.
Am I just not getting the email quick enough or what is going on here? This is the second time for this and I keep coming back empty lol...

Re: Notification of Manix 2XL Salt
I just had hoped someone here would jump in this post and have news that they had got one of these knives...
Anyone here get one?

They are inbound to dealers. Spyderco getting them at the factory outlet usually is the start of them shipping out.

The Manix 2XL Salt in the all black Trench Coat is @ the SFO
Re: Notification of Manix 2XL Salt
Just received mine from Northwest Knives. Superb fit and finish with an extremely sharp and even grind. I like the feel in-hand but I'm pretty sure that I'll be looking for some after market scales because my one knock against the Manix 2 XL remains. I just can't live with the clip position so I'll be hunting for some scales which address that. I put Rockscale Design TI scales on my M2 XL Spy 27 and I've been very happy with them. But I think I'll try to find something that's a little more contoured this time.
Re: Notification of Manix 2XL Salt
Actually found a Lynch clip in my parts bin and was even a black one. I think I'll keep the stock scales for now. The knife looks better and feels a lot better in hand now. I'll eventually put a Flytanium ball cage and lighter spring in, but it's good for now.
Re: Notification of Manix 2XL Salt
The only thing I will do to the clip on my Spyderco knives is I bend the tab of the clip out to a 1/4". I do this so that it goes on the pocket easier, or it will find the lip of my pocket quicker.
I don't bend the clip out to lighten the clip pressure on the pinch pressure the clip does, to hold the knife in place.
If anything I might be guilty of making a few of mine bite down a little more. I have just decided let the knife chew on my pocket if it does. I don't care. After all the main thing here is I don't want the loose my knife.
But I do bend the tab out to 1/4" on every clip just to help the clip and knife find the lip of my pocket and get started on the pocket. From there it's up to me to shove it in the pocket . This first pic is the tab at the setting of about 1/8" from the manufacturer.

This second pic is where I bend the tab out to a 1/4" to help the clip get on my pocket lip. This is really helpful when your pants pocket lip is more loose or thicker, like how the lip can get if it's folded over. You really want the clip to spear over the lip after all lol, otherwise you might miss the lip completely and a chance of loosing the knife.

Jeb did you get one yet? I held one yesterday, you should like yours a lot.
Feels just like a regular Manix 2 XL, but I liked the added security that the milling on the G10 provided. On an already locked-in grip that the M2 XL provides, it is an ultra secure grip.
People with bigger hands will really appreciate it, I think.

No, expect mine Monday or Tuesday maybe. I do like the new more rough texture of these all black Bumblebee scale. I have the little brother of this new one, a Shaman and a Military 2 in these scales.
I just love the grip it provides on the knife. I do expect to hear some of the people here not happy with how rough they are, but that's the very thing I like about them and the fact their made from G10...

Yeah, I'm a working man, so usually, the rougher the grip, the better. Sometimes it is at the expense of your pants pocket.

Your going to love it. I thrower a Titanium ball cage, modified the spring, honed to pretty close a 15 dps bevel, I bent the tab on the clipand stuck one of my tail ropes to this one. It no resides in one of my pockets lol...
