Hi Vivi,

The handle just dropped down on the plastic model. Handle angle is the same.

Haha,ok. Guess I was over thinking it.

I look forward to it releasing, whenever it does. I'll be picking one up.

Glad you mentioned this. I was fretting over a "severe angle" on my much anticipated Caly...! After all, we have Schempp working on the radical blade angles, for those who desire them.

...My plan was to bring back the 3.0"...

Thanks especially for this! I like the longer blades too, but the 3" keeps winning pocket space for ease of carry, comfort, and blade control. An ideal work knife, IMO. I would never own just one knife, but if I had to, it would probably be a Caly 3" in a PM steel.

@Bolster Here is another photo of the acrylic model you mentioned showing that the blade is not fully open.

Kind of difficult to see due to the clear acrylics but there is a gap between the blade tang and lock bar. That particular model was not designed to actually "lock."

Also kind of visible in the original photo I shared

I'll take another run of calypso jrs if that's an option. Underappreciated design. Was the perfect "other" delica

Astute observation GarageBoy. That's what it was designed to be back when it was first designed.

@Mushroom thanks for the pics. Even seeing that acrylic Caly gets me all hot and bothered.

Complete agreement here. Fantastic design. Superb work knife.

one thing I was always curious about is why the caly jr had a sharpening notch while almost every other spyderco does not?

Hi Vivi,

That was "back then". Some were asking for it. The maker liked them, so I tried. I then found it to be a problem.

Hi Marius,

'Tis a frustrating puzzlement for us. We tried moving the 3.5 FRN version to Taichung, but he is at capacity, with many current models growing, and we were looking at 2029? Golden is also quite backed up with many models far behind on planned dates. With current models expanding in demand in Golden, it becomes even more complicated. The increase in size of the Golden factory will certainly help, and we're increasing every month, but still behind.

So now our best best is to continue with the original maker, though they've gone through a lot in the past 10 years. My plan was to bring back the 3.0", continue with the 3.5", add a 4.0" and small pendants based on the pattern of the 3.5". It's not an easy design to make. We're always working on solutions.

sal
That is good news sir. I dream of a cobalt blue G10 SPY27 Caly3 and 3.5 and maybe a Calypso jr. I also hope that the lock rock issue is going to be solved one way or another.
