Re: What would be your dream knife?
Model: Chaparral XL Salt, complete with LC200N liners, stop pin, etc.
Steel: MagnaCut (or some new, tougher version of MC), and offered in both PE & SE
Handle: G10 bumblebee-style scales ala the Caribbean, but in all-black (i.e. no yellow) and Spyderco designs a completely different grip pattern since the Chaparral is a platform for handles
Clip: Normally I'm a fan of Spyderco's stock clips, but for this one I'd want a DLC'd titanium deep-carry clip

( I´d not want a deeper carry though than the current "small" Chap offers anyway already with its wire clip.
Purely personal preference of course)
Top three going by pocket-time (update October 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1)

I think an og style black micarta calypso in a 3.5” variation would be really sweet. The calypso is my favorite design series from spyderco, and while I do actually prefer some of the design elements of the caly 3.5, overall the calypso really strikes my eye more, and has a bit more artistic appeal to the design. Still a wonderful user though.

Here is a post from Sal awhile back. In it, he talks about the High Performance Delica project. It has evolved from a high, hollow grind to now include a second model with a Hamaguri grind as well.

I'll add my vote to this one also. I like the depth of carry with the current wire clip, but would like the DLC'd titanium version Carrion mentioned.Wartstein wrote: ↑Sat Dec 20, 2025 10:56 pmSounds REEEEAAAALLY good!KeepCalm&Carrion wrote: ↑Sat Dec 20, 2025 9:34 amModel: Chaparral XL Salt, complete with LC200N liners, stop pin, etc.

I also would like a solid black G10 handle with a different groove pattern than the normal salts. Maybe some shallow V grooves could make the pattern. The pattern could have little hexagons like the FRN (or maybe squares or triangles), as long as each is at least twice the size (or more) of the FRN pattern.

Re: What would be your dream knife?
Chaparral with flat, dark blasted (e.g. Techno 2 or McBee) titanium scales, LC200N steel, wire clip, and a Boye dent on the back lock.
There's no real use-case logic (e.g. as a Salt) for any of this, other than be a combination of various things that I've loved from other models on my favorite model.

It's a good thing we're discussing a knife and not the ideal woman of our dreams.

Re: What would be your dream knife?
I would like to see a Sage 6 with a 4.0"-4.5" blade (same blade shape, just longer), with either MagnaMax or S90V steel. Grips, the Salt black G-10 would be great, and a definite yes for the button comp lock.
Re: What would be your dream knife?
If we go in that direction we gradually approach the big Сalypso.

Affordalbe is the thing. I love Spyderco because they ARE affordable... in more steel varieties than anyone else offers, regardless of cost. I'm a fan of other knife makers as well as Spyderco... and I own a few, but I can't justify paying $600 or more for a pocket knife... even if I could. I will never own a Medford...lol.benben wrote: ↑Sat Dec 06, 2025 7:41 pmHandled this Medford Infraction yesterday, thick stout sculpted titanium scales, frame lock, beautiful hollow grind S45VN blade, incredible tolerances, just premium in every sense of the word.
These are very pricey, I’d love to see the Golden crew put their own unique spin on something somewhat like this that’s actually affordable and still high quality.
Sorry, I’ve turned into a titanium frame lock Ho!

Re: What would be your dream knife?
After using the Temperance knife for a while, I fell in love with it. And now I definitely need this exact knife with an even wider blade. I believe the knife's intended purpose—a short blade with maximum efficiency—should be realized more fully and effectively. Using Photoshop, I widened the blade by about 5 millimeters. Now the top edge (spine) of the blade is noticeably higher, giving it a very respectable, good width. It also serves as a protective ridge where the handle meets the blade. Now it's a blade the width of Gladius' sword. This modification to the knife is quite easy to implement in production.
Perhaps it would be useful to make the blade tip a little closer to the typical Santoku knife shape. It would look even more innocuous. And only our people would know what power lies hidden here. And in this design, it acquires the very property for which the "Yojimbo" is loved. When thrusting, the blunt surface from the tip upward forces the blade to cut intensely downward. It leaves a wide and powerful cut, similar to the mark left by a real tomahawk. So, where the law prohibits knives longer than 3 inches, we remain within the law. But we get an even more powerful hidden weapon.

Re: What would be your dream knife?
I hear you. I just don't have the disposable income to spend that kind of money for a knife. Hiderer, Medford, Chris Reeves, Spartan............ all makers I will probably never own, but would like to. Come on lottery!benben wrote: ↑Wed Dec 24, 2025 9:32 amOh I said those exact words not too very long ago, “it’s Spyderco only, and I’ll never pay more than $200 for a pocket knife!”silver & black wrote: ↑Tue Dec 23, 2025 7:11 pmAffordalbe is the thing.
