Police Talk
Re: Police Talk
one of the reasons I've always preferred the regular Police to the Manix XL, Military, Pacific Salt and Stretch XL is it packs more cutting edge into the blade despite being easier to carry than some of those designs.
The XL would push that advantage even further.
Very excited to see pictures of them when Sal decides its time to reveal them.

To actually get a Spyderco in a 5" blade backlock will be an awesome knife. Might as well make these in the Salt series and run with them. No need to look back.
I going to do my part and buy the finger choil and 3 or 4 to start. Put one in each of my trucks and one in.my back right pocket just to start off.
Watching and waiting lol... throw'em out here...

Re: Police Talk
If the C.O.P. is VG-10, it needs to be inexpensive to appeal. Without FRN, that's not happening, unless it's made in China, and that's not VG-10. I don't see how VG-10 works for this. I'm too lazy to check, but I think Spyderco makes only liner lock knives in China. So Taiwan or US (or Italy?).
When is aluminum a competitive choice in handle material?
I think a design with a stop pin would add extra interest.

Re: Police Talk
Honestly, I’m fine with a VG10/Black G-10 scales combo. It’s likely the cheapest way to gauge interest with the highest general appeal.
If it succeeds, the supersteels and scale options will follow.

Re: Police Talk
I was wrong about about this, at least according to KC. Under their Spyderco brand name are liner lock, fixed blade and slip joint knives made in China. Under their Byrd brand, they also have back lock knives made there.derangedhermit wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 6:54 amI think Spyderco makes only liner lock knives in China.

Re: Police Talk
I hope I am allowed to share these here. They’re in the SFO for anyone to see, so I’m guessing it’s ok?

They are acrylic mock ups, early stage of prototyping.
