It’s very tempting, but has been said the lightweight Shaman would been an instant buy , basically for the reduction in weight. The scales look like they would be a better platform switching clip to left side of scales . MG2
Well, the weight difference is not a ton indeed absolutely seen.. but still the G10 Shaman adds 10% of weight over the FRN version.
For me personally having a lighter knife with imo even better handle material is a win win. (Technically FRN should also be more robust on contoured scales than G10, though this is certainly no real life issue).

Just from the looks the FRN scales in a way look even grippier, but the clip should cleverly land exactly on that smooth Spyderco Logo, so perhaps the "pocket-shred-factor" is not that much of a thing...

And just now I realize that the Shaman LW CAN be had in SE... and I actually did like BD1N with teeth in the Para 3 LW I briefly owned... very tempting... :grimace :smirk
Top three going by pocket-time (update October 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1)

I plan on getting a Shaman Salt someday. The G-10 version. I like the idea of having a G-10 Salt model; the only G-10 Salt I currently own is a Caribbean. All the other Salts I own are FRN.

I like the tall HG. I'm not certain how it cuts compared to a FFG, like on the FFG Manix 2, or the PM2. But I'm assuming that the overall design of the Shaman has more solidity than the PM2; but again, that's only my assumption.

It's so new, but I wonder if we might see some at the Seconds Sale. If I find one, I'll at least grab a picture.

If by HG you mean hollow grind, the Shaman isn't a hollow grind. It is full flat grind, at least that's what reveal 19 says.

Yes, I had assumed that the Shaman was a high hollow grind, but I guess I assumed wrong. 🙂

Yep this one seems like a winner. Holding the Shaman, it is very comfortable but (to me) those smooth G10 scales are far too slippy. Adding in some of the best texturing Spyderco has done (Salt scales) fixes my biggest critique w/ the Shaman. I'm not necessarily a 'Shaman guy'...but I guess I could be!

Excited to hold this one and see how it compares.
still smooth g10, the pattern doesnt really change too much for me. looks really cool though.
For me it was kinda disappointing. Now I'm a huge fan of grippy scales, and strongly dislike the recent trends the last few years of polished slippery handles. The PM2/Para3/Military all did the Salt versions amazing, lots of grip, but not so aggressive it tears up your hands. The shaman salt though, is still too far to the slippery side. Is it better than the smooth polished G10 versions, yeah noticeably so, but is it grippy......not really. Because unlike the other Salt G10 scales they smooth polished them, so the only additional grip you get is really from the grooves. Unlike the other salt G10 scales where they also have good texture in the non-grooved areas. It's an improvement over the original, sure, but it also falls way behind the other Salt versions in grip.

If the PM2/Military/Para3 salt grip level is a 10, a normal polished G10 Shaman is a 1, and a peel ply PM2 is a 5......the Shaman salt is a 3-4. Good step up from the non-Salt in grip, but still very lacking.

So we went and I didn’t see any (which is a good thing, QC-wise) but I think (?) I heard a couple people found one. Such a new release that I’m not surprised we didn’t see more. It was the second most asked about knife, behind the Smock.
