Did I buy a counterfeit???

#1

Post by FrankSD »

Tried to find this model at KnifeWorks and BladeHQ, with no luck. Found this on eBay, inquired with the seller who assured me of its authenticity - for whatever that’s worth… And in a moment of weakness (y’all ever have one of those?), I hit the “purchase” button.

And, now I’m scared.

Welcome. What’s your concern, exactly? It looks to me what you purchased is a slightly older version of the same model here.

I don't think there's really any way to tell until you have the knife in your hands as the listing appears to be using Spyderco's product photos. However, the seller's long time on eBay and mostly positive feedback would make me feel a bit better about it.

I guess I just panicked after reading a bunch of stuff about fakes, especially through eBay sales. Knife is in hand, and looks legit to my eye.

Yes, the seller's positive history is what caused me to hit the "buy it now" button. Knife is in hand and seems good to me. Thanks!

Great, glad it worked out. Enjoy your knife!

I'm curious about the "numbered" part. Is it a Spyderco photo, but the knife you got has a CC# (collector's club)?

It has the number 019V just before the slanted H1. Not sure what that means.

It means that it was originally sold to someone who is a member of the Spyderco Collector Club. https://www.spydiewiki.com/index.php?ti ... ctors_club

I've never seen a counterfeit with a CC# on the blade. Here is a Lil Native that I used to own that I purchased from a CC member

I see you have already got the answer to the question. 🙂
