Manix 2 XL - 15v
Re: Manix 2 XL - 15v
I think actually what were going to see for the Manix 2XL will be the Salt series and I hope the blade and liners to be DLC and the blade to be the MagnaCut, least this is what I expect to see.
Bottom line though, either steel but DLC the blade and the liners with the new Salt series scales of the black on black Bumblebee will be a heck of a knife to score one or two of those lol...

I keep wanting to tell myself that I'm going to take a hiatus from spending in 2026, but that is going to be a big year for Spyderco. I became 'enlightened' this year, so it was a big year for me (personally) for getting good Spydie collection up to snuff.
I certainly wouldn't mind a Manix 2 XL in 15V, but if Eric said that *everything* from Golden would get the 15V treatment, then the one that I am the very most excited by would be a Bodacious in 15V. That to me would be the creme de la creme, and certainly a capstone, and a great send off, for the end of 15V production folders, the Shaun Houston sig model notwithstanding.

Of all the Spyderco knives I have, don't own a single one of the Bodacious, but with how the Police 4 and the Manix 2XL fits and feels in my paws, I just wouldn't buy anything else unless it comes with a larger blade and/or a blade steel I found to be interesting.
I am always a sucker when a new blade steel gets in the mix to choose from. Being honest here, many of these are the smaller knives that I might carrying a day or two every once in a while, for a test drive lol. I just always find myself go back to my bigger knives.
I will say though, I have never had a Bodacious in my paw to check it out in person. I see it on this forum a lot though and it does have quite the following.

I plan to go to an upcoming show and hopefully handle a Bodacious. Like you anxious to see a Manix XL Salt release but it would be tough not to pick up a 15V . I just wish they would DLC the blade as I have said in the past . MG2Jeb wrote: ↑Sat Nov 01, 2025 6:05 amRed L.

Dan,
I agree with you on coating those steels like that, this new DLC is some really impressive stuff, I can't help but wonder though if the steel going through that process might affect the temper of the blade in a bad way.
I know it's more expensive and will hit the price point, which will not phase me in buying one what so ever. I am a real sucker on these really harder steels, even those that are a real big issue to hone to a razor sharp edge.
Heck I just bought me a new DMT Diamond hone holder for my 3" X 8" hones so I can get to some of my more difficult steels to hone out, in a better angle. I had a really hard time using these on those harder steels.
This thing I bought is the bomb too. Fits just about all the different size hones too. Here is a hyperlink to it, was like 23 bucks...

When you get a chance to hold one, I'd be interested in your thoughts. I really, really like it. The main draw for me, similar to the Shaman and Native line, is the curve on the back without any sort of Spydiehole 'hump' which allows for an infinitely variable number of hand adjustments and positions on the top of the knife. It's one of the reasons why the mules can be a little tough for me - they offer a great locked in position, but if I were to close my eyes and grip the knife slowly with my eyes shut, often the pad of my thumb goes right onto the very top ridge of the hump. You don't get that w/ the Bodie, so I really like it. The one thing I don't like is how slick the handles are. The Shaman has the same problem - the handles, while contoured, feel almost oily, they are so smooth. The Bodacious, with it's non-textured G10, feels a little more chalky than the Shaman's smooth contoured scales, but you still don't get a great purchase on them. The Bodie is one of the few knives I have dropped while just manipulating it slowly. The hard edges lock your hand in a little bit more, but the 'drop-ability factor' increases with the Bodacious over other Spydercos. The worse I've ever held is the Kapara - that sucker will fly right out of your hands, it is so slick. The Bodie, Shaman and Kapara are some of the more slippery knives Spyderco offers - The Shaman scales are thick enough that sometimes people do mods to give the scales extra purchase, but the Bodacious scales are too thin to really do too much to them.
The Bodacious to me feels like a taller, slightly thinner/slicker Native Chief, just w/ a compression lock. I love the knife actually, and want to pick one up, but I'll have to do something about those scales. IF they end up doing a Bodacious in 15V, they would do well to leave the textured G10 pattern on the brown scales, like they have done for all the other G10 15V releases. That would solve that problem and take away my biggest critique of the knife.

I’d love to get some DLC 15V my self. Manix xl in 15V with DLC would be hard to push out of my rotation. I remember once seeing a comment by Shawn on this forum somewhere where he mentioned that some steels just don’t soak up the coatings as well as others. I just searched for that comment but couldn’t find it.Manixguy@1994 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 01, 2025 6:11 amit would be tough not to pick up a 15V . Thanks Bruce , I may have missed that comment by Shawn . It may explain the DLC missing on 15V . MG2dullmaker wrote: ↑Sat Nov 01, 2025 12:04 pmI’d love to get some DLC 15V my self. I hope the salts come out soon.
Ever since the Military 2 Salt came out I haven't carried any other version of the model, including my 15V run.

Red L,
When I get a knife I don't really care for the scales for whatever reason, the AWT in the aggressive texture is what I have done, with the exception of the Police4 and those I get the G10 that Dimitri cuts in Ukraine.
You have to wait a little but it's been well worth the wait for both of those aftermarket vendors of scales that I have gotten, and I have bought quite a few from Ukraine and 3 or 4 sets now from AWT for the Manix 2 and Manix 2XL knives I have or had and given to someone. They have all fit perfect too, which I know ain't easy, both vendors just fit perfectly...
I am not a fan of a smooth handle in a hammer or Hatchett of any kind nor do I want a smooth grip on a knife or machete of any kind.
If I can't get them like I want, I just modify them to work for me, heck you can usually do something, maybe not always the best looking solution but if it's mine and it works better, I call that a win lol, till I can get something better, anyway.

Same here Military 2 Salt gets a lot more time in pocket than the S90V Sprint . The Salt Military just feels s much better in hand because of scales and never worry about weather conditions. I will probably have the same opinion once the Manix XL Salt is released . Dan

Re: Manix 2 XL - 15v
I'd buy a Manix 2xl in 15v in a heartbeat. Probably even 2. With my big paws this is one of my favourite folders ever. I know that Eric mentioned that all golden models would get the 15V treatment, but if I'm not mistaken that was before Crucible went under. And it all depends on how much 15v they stockpiled. If they got more than enough before Crucible seized operations, I believe it would be only a matter of time before we see M2 xl in 15v. Considering the fact there would be no more 15V in foreseeable future, I really do hope they have enough 15V for the big manix.
