Sources for screws, washers?

#1

Post by Evil D »

I'm planning on getting some Skiff bearings for my Southard, but will also need to replace the washers. Skiff couldn't recommend where to get them so I'm on the hunt. Do y'all have anything bookmarked where you've ordered washers this small before?

Screws are getting easier since companies are starting to sell screw packages, but I also have a knife with stripped clip screws that I plan on drilling and retapping so I'm going to need a size larger screw, and they're so tiny none of the hardware stores around here have anything that small. I don't even care about length, I can shorten them I just need a selection of thread sizes and a button torx head.

I ordered replacement steel washers for the Domino and Dice on Aliexpress, they are 0.1mm thick and you can find plenty of different dimensions.

I do not own a southard but I found them by searching ID OD thickness steel washers on aliexpress (sadly, couldn't find a european retailer for the right dimensions).
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

I got a great tip recently on a source for body screws. If you have old harddisks or circuitboards laying around, some of those screws can replace bodyscrews. I was in luck with an old Hitachi HD where I used the screws on the clip of my Terzuola Slipit.

Take a look over at McMaster-Carr:

Yeah we buy from them at my work, they're my last resort option, was just hoping someone might know some knife parts manufacturing company or something like that.
