My boss bought one a few months ago and after a meeting we went to my desk and started shooting the breeze, where we always pull out our carry of the day.
He pulled that slim little number out and after letting me play eith it for a bit I realized I had to have one.
He showed it to me when he first got it a while back but I forgot all about until yesterday. Coincidentally, my cousin texts me later that night that he bought the Cobol!
This was before I knew the name of the Ikuchi (I forgot what my bass said it was called), and I was like " My boss has one that looks almost like that!"
So I did some research and now have one in a cart, lol.
I like it as a "gentleman's knife" during a night out with the lady. Plus, it looks like a great slicer peeler as well haha!
What do you guys think of it?
Thank you!
I’ve want this one for a while but decided it could wait for CQI to fix early reported issues. After that I kind of lost interest in S30V but maybe now when I can add it maybe I’ll consider it. Problem is the amount of great knives out there now with various CPM steels that I still don’t have might make it a hard choice for me.

What were some of the issues? I remember reading about the knife point sitting proud of the scales but I think that has been resolved.
Yeah the wheel opener is cool. A guy from the counter at the outlet has carried one pretty much since it has been out and has a high opinion of it. I like it, but due to it's smaller size, it (and also the Kobol and especially the Nand) are slightly harder to control in my hand.
If I had an order, I'd first choose the Ikuchi, then the Kobol, and a far distant third would be the Nand.

Andunno, man. Of the three, I chose the NAND. It's weird. It's awkward to open. It's not a "user." But it's cool. If Pablo Picasso was to carry a Spyderco, it would be the NAND.

Lol perhaps! I've actually seen one Spydie flicked, never thought that could happen. Felt like I would cut myself somehow each time I closed it. And not a fan of the M398. But that tiny little compression lock in the tiny little Ikuchi? That's actually pretty cool!
I bought the Nand, the main reason was because it came with the M398 steel. I really like this steel, it's really hard and can challenge you that are not proficient at honing. Once honed out and polished bevels, it's a great steel.
The Nand is awkward to open but it's a neat little razor of mine that I keep handy in the house, I don't edc the knife though.
Your straight on with it lol. Spyderco has several knives that I bought just because of how wild the design was, nothing I ever plan to edc, but it was just something about the little munchkins... I had to buy them, even those that are truly challenging to hone lol. I will admit though, I don't have one Spyderco knife that I don't like.

I did notice that the knife was a little small in my hands. Almost too small. I have x-large hands (8.5-9.0 gloves) and once I got used to it, it seemed pretty controllable. It isn;t something that I'll want/need for fast deployment but a nice little knife with slacks.

It would almost fit into a space designed for a pen, so it being small can turn into a strength in some regards. That they can pack a compression lock into that little thing is very impressive to me!

Yes, it's size and blade profile is what immediately drew me to it. It has a positive lock as well.
one of the things i wished was different about the ikuchi is that it would fit in the pen pocket of my uniform the way a crkt ceo did. due to the curvature and the thicc end, it does not fit in a standard pen pocket. however, it's such a great design and fits so nicely in a pants pocket that it was easy to overlook that wish. also, it's such a beautiful and compelling design with its persian style blade, so i wouldn't wish that away just to have it fit in a pen pocket.
i posted a comparison pic once showing how it is about half the size of a delica closed, sits much lower in the pocket, and has a substantial amount of additional cutting edge. the cutting edge is only a half inch shorter than the military. that's insane for such a small, sleek design.

Yes, it has very long cutting edge in relation to it's size. Long and sleek. It just looks so cool.
Well, I ordered one from BLADEHQ.
Can't wait to get it!
My supervisor will be bummed because I think that he wanted to sell me his. He is a prolific trader/seller of his knives.
I don't like buying used knives if I can help it (haven't bought one yet).
